Description
Note to Brewver members:-

The majority of beers have historically been released as 'Canterbury - XYZ' so should appear in the beer listings without the brewery name.

There is also a range of beers, usually only available at the brewpub itself and smaller batch, released as 'Foundry - XYZ'. These beers therefore appear with the Foundry name first in the beer listings.

Canterbury Brewers is a traditional microbrewery and the only one based within the city walls of Canterbury. We produce a range of modern and fresh cask-conditioned ales using only the finest quality floor-malted barley, hops and yeast available. With our distinctive recipes and our beautiful new brewery situated on Whitehorse Lane, we aim to add something different to the ever-growing and vibrant micro-brew scene in Kent. The Foundry Brewery, which opened in June 2011, is in sight of Canterbury Cathedral and just off the high street, and includes a restaurant, bar and an eight-barrel brewery. Brewery tours and tastings run regularly, and our restaurant can be booked for special events and functions - just get in touch!

Cask at Egham United Services Club Easter Beer Festival 2012. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Hoppy, Belgian aroma. Tastes hoppy, fruity, yeasty, slightly bitter. An interesting brew from Canterbury.

Bottle courtesy of Ian Harrisoni, cheers my friend! Consumed in New Frank (Camper) Abbots Shingles campsite, Farnham, Saturday 10th March 2012 Dark brown appearance, with a lovely hint of balsamic vinegar on the nose, smells lovely, Loz also gets beef stock. Warmth from the alcohol, the whisky certainly showing, some wet wood, good bittersweet and nice tanginess in mouth, some dark sticky fruits also in here. Nice beer, thanks once again Ian! 500ml bottle from the brewpub. Now. I did like the non barrel aged version a lot. Then i had this on draught at the pub and it blew my mind. So how has it transferred to a bottle? Very deep ruby colour with lasting beige head. Cask version was a touch dryer than this. But this is sensational. Fruit all over this thing. Not quite sure how to describe this really. Fruity syrupy malty aroma. I do love the biscuity finish. It’s just so damn drinkable. Light agile yet complex without being all over the place. Well balanced. Vinous on aroma. Reminds me a bit of Goachers Old and there isn’t much higher praise. Malty fruity scotch ale? Barrel ageing has given it a touch more of everything without making everything taste of wood or whisky. Yes, you see, this is how you do barrel ageing. Tastefully and with balance and by enhancing the original beer. Strawberry jam fruit as it warms up. Lovely. Great beer.

At Foundry brewpub in Canterbury. Very hazy copper light brown, lasting beige head. Belgian estery aroma mixed with intense citrusy hops. Lovely orange tangerine fruit. Wow this is really lovely. Sometimes these cross over beers dont quite work but this is really good. Interesting Belgian estery yeast with the kind of tangerine led hop fruit you get from the best of the Kernel beers. Stunningly good.

On tap at Foundry Canterbury. Hazy mid brown colour with lasting off white head. Has bocky elements to it. Malts are solid. Alcohol is well hidden. Toffee bocky aroma is under stated but still very good. Its good. I mean really easy drinking slightly malty slightly dry slightly toffee bock.

3.9% cask handpull. Deepish gold in colour. Thin white head. Leafy hoppy aroma. Some toffe in the body. Good hop. As the brewer said he was going for a 6% american ipa style at a lower abv and frankly he has done it. That is a damn fine hoppy session beer. The bitterness and hops grow on the finish. Its great. 4.0/5

On tap at Foundry Canterbury. Cloudy red gold and orange. Thin white head. A decent stab at a fruit wheat beer. Some diacetyl possibly. The fruit is there and is quite genuine but doesnt make its presence felt enough until the fruity pippy drying finish which is excellent. Its fine but needs more fruit i think. Tasty finish though. Overall just decent other than the finish which is good
