Description
Note to Brewver members:-

The majority of beers have historically been released as 'Canterbury - XYZ' so should appear in the beer listings without the brewery name.

There is also a range of beers, usually only available at the brewpub itself and smaller batch, released as 'Foundry - XYZ'. These beers therefore appear with the Foundry name first in the beer listings.

Canterbury Brewers is a traditional microbrewery and the only one based within the city walls of Canterbury. We produce a range of modern and fresh cask-conditioned ales using only the finest quality floor-malted barley, hops and yeast available. With our distinctive recipes and our beautiful new brewery situated on Whitehorse Lane, we aim to add something different to the ever-growing and vibrant micro-brew scene in Kent. The Foundry Brewery, which opened in June 2011, is in sight of Canterbury Cathedral and just off the high street, and includes a restaurant, bar and an eight-barrel brewery. Brewery tours and tastings run regularly, and our restaurant can be booked for special events and functions - just get in touch!

Canterbury brewers single hop pale ale bramling cross 4.6% clear rich gold lasting white head. Hedgerow hop aroma. Wow really hoppy but still balanced. The pale ale has enough guts to carry the hops. Good bramling cross blackcurrant and bramble fruit finish. Good example of this hop no doubt. really tasty. 3.7/5

Cask handpull at The Foundry Canterbury. Aged wee heavy 7.9% really deep amber colour lots of lychee and raspberry on aroma strawberry jam. Warming strong in mouth and then this whisky dryness on the finish. I am in awe. One of the best kent beers for a long time. Good hops too. Whisky finish 4.2

Bottle given to me by Harrisoni - big cheers Ian! Hazy dark red-brown beer, short pale tan head. Light sourness on the nose. Surprisingly light crisp palate with fine carbonation. Nicely judges barreling. Not too woody with just a pleasant amount of vanilla sweetening the malt. This is well integrated with the mildy tart fruits with raspberry slightly to the fore. Not tasting huge amounts of whisky - guessing that it has morphed in to these interesting fruit flavours. Semi dry finish, a little minerals. Nicely done and effortlessly drinkable for a big beer. I have high hopes for this brewery.
