Big can (naturally) shared at Chris and Ruth Pre-GBBF 2017 tasting - London. Cheers! Pours clear yellow with a creamy, white head. The nose is all simple white bread and cereal, some hay. Medium sweet flavour with sugary white bread, frosting. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly warming, more cereal. Easygoing malt liquor.

A recent discovery in the cooler at the local HEB, I have a 24 oz can of Spiked Tangerine to drink and rate. A small amount is poured into a tasting glass to see what the color might be. The view is a slightly hazy orange liquid, appropriate for a tangerine flavored drink, I guess. The smell is an intensely sweet citrus. I have a taste from the can. The tangerine definitely comes through, a bit of high sucrose cereal and a ton of sweetness, no surprise. Above average for Steel Reserve.

Offer from boss. Pale gold body with thin fast dissipating head. Faint malt aroma. Weak taste with watery finish. Still, better than their other beer.

24 oz. Aroma has notes of pineapple, raspberry, Zima. Pours an opaque white color with a quickly collapsing head. Tastes fruity. Not really beer, but it’s not horrible.

In the world of non-beer-tasting malt liquors, it is a red letter day when Steel Reserve has a new flavor to taste. And this time the flavor is a mystery. I found a 24 oz can of Spiked Mystery at the favorite HEB several weeks ago. Saving it for a warm day or else a day of stoop labor. Both obtained this unseasonable winter day, I am ready to sample. Even though the brown bag is ready to receive the can, recently I have been pouring a small bit of these malt liquors in a glass just to see what I am drinking. Sometimes it is an unnatural shade of green or blue. In this case it does not matter, the pour is a hazy shade of winter, no color really. The scent is interesting, tropical to me or perhaps citrus. A drink is even better, all things considered. I'll stay with the tropical-citrus effect along with much sweetness. Pretty decent for a fruit malt liquor and you get the added bonus of the 8% abv.

Can shared at Chris and Ruth Pre-GBBF 2017 tasting - London. Cheers! Pours perfectly clear yellow with a creamy, white h ead. The nose holds meringue, faint hay, crust. Medium sweet flavour with more sugary white bread, minimal alcohol notes. Light to medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Finishes sweet, with more crispy white bread. Pretty good.
