Shared 330 ml bottle. Very dark brown to black colour, moderate beige head. Moderate roasty and malty notes in the dryish aroma, a hint of cocoa too. Thin mouthfeel. Dry roasty flavour, okay but not remarkable.

From the very old notes, hence this is not a real rating, but more just a mark to myself that I have tried this at one point. Watery and weird pale ale, but not a total disaster.

Bottled, from supermarket in Vaasa, Finland. Dark brown, firm creamy head. Strawberry jam and notes of coffee up front. Dry with light body and clean mouthfeel. Licorice, strawberry and some spicy hops. Distinct bitter finish.

Cask at GBBF ’15, day 1, 11/08/15 Murky yellow with little in the way of a head. Nose is tangy fruits, light nana, hay, bread pudding, pinch of spice. Taste comprises light yeast, earthy, lemon drizzle, banana, vanilla, grass. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying close. Ok wit.

Bottle from Cheers Liquor Store, Todmorden. Very dark red and very strong tasting. There’s a heavy dark fruity sweetness in its nose, although this is less stated on the tastebuds. Has some wine-like qualities to it.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2015 day 1. Hazed yellow golden coloured pour with a fine white head. Aroma is wheaty, grainy, plastic, banana. Flavour is composed of light wheat, little salty, faint lemon, bready wheat malts, palate is light, semi refreshing, little fruity. Ok

Bottle from morrisons. Golden colour with a thick foamy white head. Citrus grapefruit, and orNge aroma with fruit. Taste sweet fruit with a slight bitter citrus finish.

Bottle from Cheers Liquor Store, Todmorden. Dark red with a small bubbly head. Not a bad ’weizen’ for a non-German, mainly ale brewer (although I believe the head brewer is from an adjacent country). There’s a dark-fruit sweetness to this ale with an underlying roasted character. It fizzes a little in the palate.

Cask at Tap East - London: pours reddish copper with a creamy off-white head. Musty grainy aroma with suggestions of damp leaves. Tastes a little odd, there’s some musty earth, vague tang, leaves. Light bodied with fine carbonation. More must in the finish, grainy bread, old leather. Not very drinkable.
