Bottled. A slightly hazy golden beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of malt and hay. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and straw, leading to a dry finish. Thanks pinball for sharing.

Tap @ CKBC. Golden appearance with an off white head. I got a ton of pils malt elements in the aroma: light citrusy, grainy malt, and grass, along with a slight spiciness. The carbonation seemed a little overdone which along with some pepper notes from the yeast led to kind of an unpleasant mouth feel. Some citrus elements in the flavor but it again seemed dominated by grainy pils malts. Ok.

Tap @ CKBC. A bit hazy, orangish golden appearance with a decent off white head. Sweet, somewhat grainy, lightly fruity, a touch husky, hay aroma. Some light notes of stone fruits in the flavor like peach as well as a fairly rich pale malty taste but there wasn’t a ton going on. Fairly sweet but not cloying by any means. Sure it wasn’t flawed but it wasn’t all that exciting either.

Tap @ CKBC. 8 oz pour. Hazy amber brown appearance with a cream colored head. Served at 1 kelvin, so had to let it warm a while. Surprisingly, it did not possess any real booze in the nose but did have a floral hoppy element with a sweet caramel malts and some dark fruits. There’s a fairly rich caramel malty, toffee element in the flavor along with a floral, lightly soapy happiness and some fruity elements. Honestly it was extremely smooth for the abv but I didn’t get a ton of flavor. Nice offering overall.

Served in a plastic pint glass during their anniversary party - not exactly the best serving vessel or size for a beer like this, but whatever I guess; I just got a pint of 13% barley wine for 5 bucks, so I guess I won’t complain - turbid dark amber - thick, frothy off-white head - nose of raisin, fig, vanilla, rum, woody notes, light esters - low carbonation, medium body - flavor is a hybrid of British and American barleywine - quite a bit of toffee, caramel, fruity esters, raisin, vanilla, damp wood - moderate spicy hop profile - light oxidation - a fair amount of alcohol heat in the finish, but not overpowering - needs another year on it to mellow out and perhaps develop a little sherry character, but pretty good as it is now - just rough around the edges.

Tap at CK - I was really excited to try this, as , when done well, I really love this style - sadly, this fell far short of the mark for me - hazy gold pour - flavors are one dimensional and muddled - strongly sweet, sugary malt base, with maybe a touch of honey character - hops are moderate but soapy - none of the bright, vibrant character you get from better examples of the style - some muddy yeastiness - strong alcohol presence creates a boozy and almost medicinal character in the finish - honestly, this tastes almost like malt liquor to me - the first beer from these guys that I have truly disliked - oh well.
