Tap @ brewery. Hazy pinkish peach appearance with an off white head. Dull cherry, lemon, bready, a touch yeasty but quite dull aroma. Light cherry, though almost absent, mild yeasty, a touch bready, light flavor. Not a whole lot going on, but not offensive.

Not your typical white IPA, if there is such a thing yet - I’ve come to expect something like q hoppy wit - this is just a straight up, light colored, light bodied IPA - not a bad thing at all - texture is light and body is crisp in the finish, but creamy through the middle, possibly from the addition of the wheat flakes - flavor is lightly sweet at first, but dries out through the middle - malt base is firm and crisp, giving the peppery, spicy hops something to stand on - quite a nice summer IPA.

Admittedly, I was apprehensive about this one - I was disappointed that CK was jumping on the "let’s add whacky ingredients to lighter styles to spice them up" bandwagon - but this turned out nice - turbid gold - low carbonation - minimal head - nose is honeyed maltiness, earthy, dusty yeast, mild basil and pepper - flavor is dry and earthy up front - bready yeast notes - sweetens up through the middle - basil is mild, adding a soft herbal note, followed by a touch of spiciness - light tanginess, bordering on fruitiness in the finish - a solid brew - probably great with food.

Tap at CK - hazy gold with a pinkish hue - fairly dry, but with a somewhat chalky texture - earthy stone fruit bitterness - the cherry comes later, adding some sweetness, making the beer taste a bit like watered down, sweetened cherry juice - finish is dense yeastiness and wheat, muddying up the already muted flavors - kind of bland, really.

Deep black with a thick, lasting tan head - nose of bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, mild oak, light bitterness - creamy and full-bodied - flavor has a lot of milk chocolate character up front, followed by lightly caramelized sugars - then, deep roast and moderate dark malt bitterness balances - finish of light oak and bitterness, with some spicy alcohol heat - pretty solid.

Dark brown with a reddish tint - nose is rich and malty (toffee), with very mild touches of hickory smoke - hard to detect the bacon over the rich, creamy maltiness - flavors of toffee, caramel, light earthy bitterness, followed by mild woodsmoke and some alcohol warmth - a touch of saltiness from the bacon - my only complaint is that you can taste some of the vodka used to extract the flavor from the bacon - besides the quasi-gimmick, it’s a really solid scottish ale.

Bottle 12fl.oz.Clear light to medium yellow colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, hay, toasted, light hoppy, grass. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120515]

Tap @ Copper Kettle. 12oz into a snifter. Deep brown/black appearance with a small, creamy, light brown head. Slightly burnt, roasty malty, black coffee, light chocolate, fairly mild earthy hoppy aroma. Roasty, thick dark chocolate malty, espresso, a bit herbal, earthy, bitter hoppy flavor. Not bad but there really isn’t much for hops in the aroma.

Tap at the brewery - black pour with a frothy, lasting, off white head - nose is earthy, lightly fruity, with a fair amount of bittersweet chocolate and a mild woody note - medium bodied, considering the abv, and the alcohol is well-masked, making it a bit dangerous - flavor is initially sweet dark malts, vanilla - but this quickly makes way for a much drier quality, as bitter chocolate, earthy hop bitterness, a slight woody/cask kind of note, light char and black malt bitterness - the hop flavor is a bit on the fruity side, which doesn’t work as well with thebother qualities as it could - still, for an imperial black IPA, it is fairly well done - would prefer American hops.

Tap @ brewery. Hazy yellow appearance with a white head. Fairly spicy (yeast and adjuncts), lime, orange citrusy, coriander, zesty aroma. Pretty refreshing flavor but they just put way too much bullshit in. If you are going to do a lime variety of a witbier, don’t put agave and a whole spice rack in with it. All the adjuncts just get muddled and you get a refreshing, well made witbier with a major spice rack taste. Fuck it. Discard all the adjunct shit in this, maybe keep the lime, and you’d have a good beer. i guess it should be noted that I pounded a pint of this in less than ten minutes, so it wasn’t too bad.
