Nitro at the brewery, so obviously it looks pretty - flavors of light mineral and even a hint of brine up front make way for moderately bittersweet chocolate flavors, strong roasty notes, toasted maltiness and dark malt bitterness - finish has a mildly acidic touch, as the light mineral notes returns - lingering coffee-like bitterness - a little high in abv for a dry stout, but this is pretty damn tasty.

Tap at CK - lightly hazy dark amber - sudsy, lasting lace - aroma of toasty maltiness and moderate caramel - medium bodied - medium dry, grainy malt character, with light acidity through the middle, as well as lightly earthy hops, leading to a semi-sweet finish of light caramel and toffee, with a touch of fruity esters - a decent brew, but nothing stand out - unlike most of their other beers, this will probably not be one I order again.

NOTE THAT MY RATING IS AN AVERAGE OF THE TAP AND CASK VERSIONS - Tap score, 3.2 - Cask score, 3.7 (the original tap score is below - the cask-conditioned version has none of the diacetyl that is present in the tap version, allowing the lightly Biscuity malt to shine much more - if you can, try the beer on cask) Turbid gold pour bready nose with moderate buttery diacetyl - flavor is bready up front, but it dries out fast, becoming a bit more crackery - fairly strong diacetyl comes at this time, creating a flavor not unlike buttered toast - a light mineral note - very light hop bite on the tail end - fairly well-executed, but the diacetyl is much too strong for my taste - British styles do not seem to be a strength for this brewer, at least not yet.

Hazy dark copper - soapy lace - nose is bready and moderately yeasty, with a mild fruitiness/esters, a light acidity and a touch of buttery character - flavor is medium sweet and lightly bready - surprisingly fruity, with notes of strawberry - finish has a bit of diacetyl, lightly earthy, bitter hops and a touch of acidity - okay, but fairly weak for this brewer.

Tap @ Copper Kettle, Denver. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, cinnamon, dark chocolate, drak fruit, coconut. Taste is malt, dark chocolate, fruit, chilly, cinnamon, smoky. Medium body, soft carbonation, finish is chilly at first, then a staying cinnamon flavor takes over. Different, wellthought and original brew, but i cant see myself downing a pint of this. 200212
