Good black IPA. Pours a thick, dark brown, with small, quickly dissipating, creamy head. Aroma dominated by roasted grain, with some hops, coffee, chocolate. Flavor is marked by coffee, chocolate, roasted grain, some leather, and hops. Finish has a bit of a burnt toast touch to it. Good stuff.

Pours a cloudy, pale, golden yellow, with minimal head. Aroma has some hops and some citrus zest. Flavor is very grassy, the hops are pretty muted, and there’s a fairly sweet undercurrent. Not one of the better IPAs I’ve tried.

Very rare or newer beer. On tap at mad mex. Smells a tad bit hoppy. Fairly clear pale yellow. first taste is hoppy BS fer sure. Yes, astringent aproaching after awhile. Certainly more than a typical apa, like a milder IPA. Not mouth coating like ipa. Bitterness builds during the session. To call this a wheat is pretty funny. Yes, but it ranks on the upper end of rudeness in wheat ale. Long bitter finish fer sure. Yes, difficult to enjoy for a lager lover .

Can. Pours a clear gold with a white head that lasts through out the beer and laces. Aroma has a nice combination of wheat, citrus and pine with a hint of resin backing. Flavor starts with a slightly sweet wheat note and a light citrus then grows in bitterness with pine and a hint of onion in the finish.

Hoppy head with a little roast here. Like a strong brown ale. Finishes a little bitter, a little bit of a rusty taste as well. Orangy brown pour with ok head and lacing. Tall can at American Ice.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, no canning date. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, floral, grass, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, char, toast, and floral/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and deep roasted malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, light char, and floral/roasted earthiness. Moderate amount of pine/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, toast, light char, and floral/roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of citrus/floral hop and dark roasted malt flavors; with a great malt/hop balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and moderately crisp/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent black IPA. All around great balance of citrus/floral hops and dark roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

22 ounce bottle shared with Maryland friends, poured into a tasting glass. Pours a hazy amber brown with off-white head. Aromas of whiskey, caramel, dark fruit. Tasting notes of whiskey, sweet malt, caramel, light coconut. Medium body with a warm and dry finish. Medium carbonation, syrupy mouthfeel. Solid beer, not sure if I could drink it all on my own so I’m glad I had others to share with.

Can. Pours opaque black with a small brown head that dissipates fairly quickly and laces well. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts. Flavor follows, medium sweet and light bitter, prominent chocolate, coconut and vanilla notes, along with some roastiness and ashtray as well. Lingering roasty bitter finish. Medium body, silky smooth mouthfeel. Quite nice!
