(Bottle at Dickie’s, Bruges, on 2008-05-20) Gloden colour. Cloudy. Very big white bubbly head. Yeasty and sour nose. Fresh and fizzy palate. Sour fruity taste. Some sour apple in taste. Slight bitterness.

Pretty hazy, straw-coloured beer with a small, creamy white head. Bit gassy upon pouring, later some dull-grainy, but also yeasty, phenolic. More phenols in the taste, and meaty esters. Very remarkable, and original, if not truly long-lasting taste. Seems to get some, if discreet, fatty acids. Medium bodied, very slick, a little astringency. Another beer that is better than the sum of its parts. Despite the low marks, I would urge people to try if they find it. Actually a tweaking of Alvinne Blond, that won’t be made any longer.

Bottle Clear amber bpdy with an off-white, creamy head. Good lace. Aroma of oranges, banana, hops, citrus, ... The flavour has an harshly bitter initial boost, but then fades out to more heavily bitter with the appearence of a lightly sweet component and some spices. The bitterness is quite hoppy. Nice complexity and a good balance.

2007 bottle. Hazy, reddish-brown with a slight, off-white head. Green herb and spice aroma. Flavours of coriander, honey and spice with some warming alcohol in the finish. Didn’t quite come together for me.

2003 bottle from Bier Tempel, Brussels. Amber coloured with a decent, foamy yet short-lived white head. Lively carbonation. Big citrus hop and elderflower aroma with some honey and spice. Herbal, slightly medicinal flavour, with some warming spice and a long, dry finish. Different and enjoyable.

Very hazy golden beer, with a seriously frothy head that continues to grow after the pour - bright and fruity aroma of orange, mango, pear - strong earthy hops in the nose - belgian sugar sweetness mingles well with the fruit character - full but soft in the mouth - really powerful hop bitterness and strong herbal character - the character imparted by the belgian yeast takes a back seat, but adds some fruitiness and light phenolic character that combines really well with the hops and herbal notes - tastes like a really hoppy saison because of this - super tasty.

Cloudy yellow and thick. Sweet and kind of sour. Some yeast, but not really the barnyard character. Some fruit, and spice. I like this quite a bit. Purchased in Belgium, March 2007 and aged 1 year.

Extremely lively bottle: almost all foam and it was "exploiding" when opened. Hazy amber-orange color, huge cloudy head and lots of lace. Herbal hoppy nose with clear barnyardish notes. Liquerish palate. Of course powerful alcohol is present, but it is not burning as expected for 11 % brew, more like warming in the aftertaste. Flavor has candy sugar, plums and some licorice. Like in aroma, you can also taste countryside here. Sweet edge in the finish. Very potential beer for ageing, already now quite mellow, but may improve over the years.

11.2oz bottle. Thick, murky, brown color. Big, foamy head which isn’t going anywhere fast. Perfect spice and brown sugar aroma. Rich and full of flavor, but not that syrupy sweet thickness that dominates most. Rich and yeasty. Sweet and bitter. This one is all over the place. Sourness, cocoa, and candi collide. What a beer, possibly the Belgian Stout I’ve had, albeit none to stouty. Super recommended, this one’s a classic.
