A dark orange amber ale with a thick light moka head. Aroma is musty and sweet, with light vinous notes, a bit understated. In mouth, a good caramel malt, oily, yet raspy from the British hops, with strong almost gin like alcohol, a bit unbalanced for the style, not enough malt to balance the alcohol. Bottle from Party Source Syracuse, summer 2007.

Bottle from WFM Charlottesville. Good God is that a strong hop aroma. Also some sweetness in the aroma. Faint sweetness in the taste juxtaposed with a straightforward but not overpowering hop profile.

12 oz bottle-pours a foamy light tan head that laces and copper color. Aroma is nice citrus-grapefruit and orange/pine hops, secondary medium malt. Taste is some alcohol, citrus-grapefruit and orange, metallic/herbal/pine hops, some tannins bitterness, secondary medium malt, some roasty. Slightly slick mouth fee. Taste doesn’t meet my expectations from the aroma, the (English) hops didn’t seem to quite stay ‘balanced’ on the jump to imperial ESB.

Bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours dark red (looks like cranberry juice) with a small head. No lacing. Aroma of plum, nuts and toffee. Flavor is a lot more sour than expected. Cherry seems to be the dominant flavor. Smooth finish.

Dark malty stout. Not as complex as the other imperial stouts I’ve had. Roasted coffee flavor. A pleasant beer - no doubt - however, you get what you pay for. Overall, good beer.

Super clear amber/copper coloured body with a very thin slightly off-white head. Aroma of nice fresh hops full of pines and spruce with a mouthwatering quality. Medium to Full-bodied; Sharp hoppy flavour with pine and flowers most common with a good malt backbone and a decent alcohol taste. Aftertaste shows a lot of the hop character with little else aside from reasonable malt. Overall, a decent beer...a bit lacking in general, but good for an IPA. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 19-Dec-05.

Black color with a big creamy head. It has a mild creamy coffee or dark chocolate aroma. Medium body strength, with a reasonable caramel and chocolate flavor; I like it because it’s a bit sweet too and the roasted malt is very limited, but there is no complexity.

12 oz bottle-pours a rich tan head and slightly hazed brown/copper color. Aroma is sweet medium malt-caramel, some spice/earthy, nutty, resin/pine. Taste is some slickness/ sweet medium malt-caramel, some spice/earthy, nutty, resin/pine-hops with some bite, alcohol. Solid in style of an American BW, nice. Medium body. OK effervescence/carbonation.

12 oz bottle from mcbackus; Nose of flowery hops and caramel with some dark fruit and sweet citrus thrown in; (almost barleywineish) Hazy tarnished copper colorwith a medium straw head; flavor has hop bitterness, toffee, and light sweet fruitiness; finish is nmildly bitter.
