13/6/2020. Bottle from Beer Republic online store. Pours clear copper amber with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of smoke, chili pepper and paraffin on top of a decent IPA base. Medium sweetness and moderate chili burn. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. We struggled to really enjoy this one.

13/6/2020. Can from Beer Republic online store. Pours very dark brown with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma of bitter dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, dark fruits and roasted malt. Moderate to medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, creamy texture.

Kut wax dips. Gewond door die kut gimmick. Kan wel janken. Prima bier, flink zoet, boozy, roosterig. Maar opflikkeren met die wax.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30A: orange and chocolate / 16B-adapted). Can 50 cl - Batch unknown (BBF unknown - canned on 06.02.2020). AROMA: medium-high chocolate aroma, with medium-low orange. low sour background. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium-low brown head with low retention. TASTE: medium orange-ish flavor with a low clean sour profile. medium-low to low chocolate background notes, overpowered by the sour character. medium bitterness with a dry and powder chocolate finish. Unbalanced. PALATE: medium-low to low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: an unbalanced blend of chocolate, slight orange and sour-ish. no oatmeal stout perceptible whatsoever.
