(bottle, 33cl, with thanks to Allen!) Hazy, dark and ruby amber colour with a big and slightly beige foamy head. Sweet and slightly toasted malty aroma with yeasty and berry-fruity notes, accompanied by traces of caramel and cacao. Sweet flavour with a shy bitterness, light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly toasted malty taste with caramel, chocolate, liquorice and lighter fruity notes, from which the latter remind me rather of the early stages of an infection than complexity; almost dry and moderately toasty finish with delicate hoppy spice and caramel and chocolate in the aftertaste. Still a pleasant one. 31.XII.09

Bottle, thanks Allen. Pale cloudy golden, heavy pearling, white head. Honeyish floral and citric aroma. Light body, dry mouthfeel. Quite citric entry, almost tilting into the laundry detergent, herbal notes, orangepeel, pineapple. Light on the strawlike malt. Grassy, sticky hops in the aftertaste. Quite bold.

Bottle, thanks Allen, Cloudy yellow, offwhite cream. Somewhat sour grain aroma. Light fruit, then water, then a light lactic note. Eartht yeast retronasal. Needs a retry from tap I think.

bottle, mit Dank an Allen! Cloudy pale yellow colour with a mid-sized white head. Sourish wheaty nose. Slightly malty, wheaty and yeasty with tart notes and nearly no fruit at all. Strongly reminds me of the nearly died-out old-style Bavarian Hefeweizen beers, which are hard to find nowadays. Citrusy finish with vinous and cider-like hints. Interesting and unusual, but certainly well-crafted. Danke, Allen!

***** SWISS BEER # 100 ***** bottle, herzlichen Dank Allen! Slightly hazy golden colour with a rocky creamy white head, very persistent. Lovely hopy nose with hints of citrus fruit. Clean and crisp hop flavours dominate the beer, with hints of lemon, lime and grapefruit. Pleasantly ydeasty with a solid underlying malty base. A delicious Pils.

Wädi-Bräu Wädenswiler Dunkel
Dark brown color; fizzy, poor head retention. Aroma of chestnut honey, caramalt, chocolate malt, interesting. The body is not well structured, actually quite dry, with a flavor between the caramel and the chocolate malt; the bitterness is not very high. Ordinary.

Wädenswiler Hanf Bio
Dark amber color. Strange aroma, herbal and spicy (black pepper). Light body, some caramel taste, dry; a bitter touch of herbs and some black pepper spicyness. Strange, but not bad; correctly brewed.

Wädenswiler Ur-Weizen Bio
Hazy blond color; big head. Not good aroma, warm/burnt plastic. Oily texture, some malt and wheat taste, correct bitterness, and one more Weizen that I don’t like…
