Description
History: Giesinger started as a garage brewery in Munich-Birkenau in 2006. In 2007, 300 hectoliters of beer were produced and sold in Birkenau. In 2009 we already produced an impressive 750 hectoliters of beer in our small backyard brewery. When we finally reached the magic limit of 1,000 hectoliters for the first time in 2011, the premises in Birkenau were completely exhausted. A new location was needed and found in the neighbourhood of Munich-Giesing. The new brewery opened in 2012 and continued to grow, therefore a second facility was opened in 2018.

Suddenly "big" entrepreneur: Today we have 20 fermentation and storage tanks in our brewery. Giesinger became Munich's second largest private brewery almost overnight: With our current brewing plant, we can produce up to 12,000 hectoliters of beer per year, and after the opening of the second brewery even more.

Clear bottle. Peppery wheatyeast notes, a bit fruit. Hazy yellow, no head. Fairly sweet sugary base, banana and mango, fairly sticky mouthfeel. Too sweet for my taste, maybe with a bit more lagering? Probably would make a good ingredient in a icecream.

Bügelverschlußflasche (kindly delivered by joss !): Orangey coloured, hazy, firm and stable white head with a little lace; fruity estery nose with traces of sweet pale-malt and shy hops; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour with a light acidity; light to medium (7% !?) bodied; sweet-malty finish with a light fruitiness. Not convincing, tastes like an amateur brew....

(swing top bottle) Cloudy, orange colour with a thick but not very persistent, slightly yellow foamy head. Yeasty, moderately sweet barley aroma with notes of pop-corn and a subtle fruity touch. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Yeasty and subtle fruity (grape-fruit, pears), barley-malty and grainy taste; moderately sweet yeasty and malty finish with a faint herbal hoppy touch. Not overly convincng but easy to drink. The brewery calls it a “Dunkler Bock” but actually it is not really dark (28.05.08).

Bottle. Raspberries resting on straw. Cloudy neon red, almost no head. Lightly tart base, berries prominent, straw and a bit paper retronasal. Light body, dry finish. Quite refreshing, not a bad summer drink.

Bottle. Grainy, somewhat buttery aroma. Cloudy orange amber, eggshell cream. Fruity, a good hit diacetyl herbal, light aromatic and grassy hops. Medium to light body, feels a bit flat. Hit the shelves too early I think, I’ll let the rest of the bottles fermant a bit more in the bottles, that should take care of the off-flavors

Test vom 1.11.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,9,8,8,8,8 - 8,25

Bottle (courtesy of joss !): Cloud, golden with an orangey touch, quite stable lacy, almost creamy head, fruity (onions...), a bit yeasty and aromatic hoppy (Tettnang ??) nose; soft MF, moderate bitter-sweet flavour; more sweet than bitter finish with returning aroma of hops in the aftertaste. O.K., a decent, soft Pils.....

Bottle (by kind permission of joss !): Murky brown, smaller off-white foamy layer, fruity (onions...), worty and yeasty nose, underpinned by some dark-malty traces; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; worty, sweet-malty, slightly sourish finish with an aromatic hoppy touch in the aftertaste. Tastes like a semi-professional brew....
