Description
The brewery (location) is closed, beer is being brewed in Alabama @ Oyster City Brewing.
It all began with a Christmas gift in 1994. Billy Pyatt, a notoriously hard guy to buy presents for, fell in love with the carboys, pots, hydrometers, grains, hops, chemistry, and physics involved in brewing. His brother, Scott, fell right in with him. Their love became an obsession that could only be resolved by going pro – not an easy thing to do in 1999!
We have tasting Rooms in Asheville, Morganton and Charlotte NC. Our kegs & cans are distributed in TN, NC, SC, GA and AL.

A dark brown porter with no head. In aroma, smooth chocolate malt with light coconut and smokiness. In mouth, a nice chocolate malt with caramel and coconut, coffee, well done.

On tap at the Thirsty Monk. Pale yellow pour, with a medium, frothy, white head. The aroma is white bread, damp grass, and some vanilla extract, if you’re searching for it. The flavor is mild sweetness, and an abrupt bitterness. Medium to heavy body, hard, and chewy. Overall, this is a terrible attempt at a saison. No subtlety or depth to the aroma, and the flavor is unpleasant. The palate is harsh, making this difficult to drink. Not a fan.

Brewvival Trip Beer 3. Served on draft at Mellow Mushroom Asheville. Pours a clear dark brown color with a thin head. Decent head retention. Aroma of huge bourbon notes, booze, chocolate, soy, wood, minty hops. The taste is big whisky, big booze notes, chocolate, roasted malts, soy, tart fruits. Way too hot, and disjointed. I guess this is what they mean by hot mess.

Tap at the Bier Garden, Asheville. Amber-brown, filtered ruby. Thin oily off-white head. Deep sweet pumpkin-pie aroma. Rich malty tones, but even richer cinnamon and nutmeg tones. Solid offering, everything you could want in a pumpkin ale. Nice.
