(Keg at Oluthuone Haka, 20260409) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had burnt malts, ash, dark chocolate and coffee. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa powder, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste had burnt malts, coffee and bitterness. A good and balanced burnt brew with dry finish.

Canned 12/14/26, drunk 3/22/26. From tfontana. Thanks, Tom!
Wuh-oh! Is that a big ol' stick of butter I smell?? Hmmm, interesting. Either a canning line infection or just cool-pool hop infection. Either way, it doesn't smell all that offensive, though it does dominate the hops. I get some cherry from the Enigma and a bit of gentle white wine (also Enigma). No big spice/blueberry/wood/pine from the Mosaic or Simcoe. Ample malts show soft white bread and moderate honey to easily balance.
Buttery in the flavor, as well. Again, not ruinously-so, but it certainly puts a damper on the bright hop character. It's a shame because the Engima is phenomenally-well-done here. Big cherry, white wine, mineral and lush greenery. An afterthought of spice from the Mosaic but I don't get much of it or the Simcoe. Cracker, biscuit, light honey from the well-attenuated malt. Not gonna read too much in to the diacetyl here. It's an older can and I'm assuming it's just a large amount of non-boiled hops eventually causing a bit of a refermentation. It happens. The beer itself, otherwise, is incredibly well-done. That's the best Enigma I've had in a while.

Undated can from the cooler, drunk 3/17/26.
Peppery spice with a bit of tropical/citrus rind in the background. Big mineral and light Riwaka sulfur. Cracker and white bread from the malt gently balances. Really well-presented with no weird yeastiness nor any resin or chalk.
Big and juicy with tropical fruit and white grape galore. Not really as much of the Riwaka sulfur from the nose, but I'll take the trade of ripe guava and passion fruit for it. Throw some lime, lychee and pear in there, too. Maybe just a shade on the sweet side; just a shade. But there's still pretty good bitterness (a lightly piney, grapefruity character). The hops are masterfully-done, though, and the texture rich and comforting.

Can from Lighthouse Wine & Spirits, Beverly. Deeply hazy, dark yellow, nice sparkle, decent head with good retention and soapy lacing. I hate to be a sucker for power of suggestion but the aroma is everything they advertise it will be with the addition of grapefruit. Taste follows aroma, minus the grapefruit. Smooth texture, soft carbonation, crisp finish as taste. Wonderful complexity!

Can (12/8/25) from The City, Saybrook. Deeply hazy yellow, tons of sparkle, thin head, good retention, light lacing. Aroma is strong lemony citrus, grapefruit, candied fruit, hint of herb. Taste follows aroma with late biscuit. Smooth texture, medium bodied, average-to-lively carbonation. Another solid offering from this brewer!
