Bottle from Nelson Wine. It pours hazy dark red with a thick fizzy light pink head and very, very lively carbonation (which led to some spillage). The nose is ripe sweet cherry, moderate sourness, metal, wood and farmyard. The taste is juicy red cherry, lemon, lime, sour white grape, granny smith apple and some metal. For the most part it’s moderately tart, but this smoothes out and finishes with subtle cherry sweetness. It’s really smooth, has a great sweet-sour balance and must be one of the best krieks out there.

Bottle 375ml.[ Courtesy of Secret Winter Santa ]. [ BBF 2014 ]. Clear medium to dark red color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white pink head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy raspberry, tart raspberr. Flavor is light heavy sweet and light moderate acidic with a long duration, raspberry, fresh raspberry. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110325]

Picked up from Carrefour. Who started carrying both this one & the framboise, what 1 year ago now? Oddly they do not carry the kriek it seems. Pours a hazy bright citrus golden, smaller but quite solid white head. Nose is tart lemon & lemon juice extract & acidity with mild funk, touch old musty rotting wine barrels. Taste has this odd sweetness up front bit like lemon meringue & lemon lemonade, odd, followed by simple lemon extract, mild funk, med. sourness, touch cellar & old wood. Touch higher carb. feels bit fuller. Bit odd & simple but not bad for sure. Score 4 -> 4.1
