Rich, raw honey coloured golden body with a very hazy glow and a thick, four centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of hay, grass, alcohol, honeysuckle, hops and a bunch of light spices - very nice. Medium-bodied; Slightly sour flavour at first with a bunch of hops and grain noticeable, some light yeast and barnyardie funk going on and finishing with a subdued yet noticeable spice and pepper flavour. Aftertaste is nice and complex with a faint hint of the yeast and funk with a good sweetness from honey and caster sugar and a bit of drying hops as well. Overall, a nice beer, of course - from belgium and well worth the local trip across the border! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from de Hop Duvel in Gent, Belgium earlier this morning for €1,55 sampled in my hotel room here in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg on 16-August-2013.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at One Pint Pub, 20130509) The beer poured deep mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sourness, sweat and honey. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sourness, malts, honey, yeast and bitterness. Aftertaste was sour. I think this beer shouldn’t have been sour. Weird.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at One Pint Pub, 20130509) The beer poured dark brown and hazy. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had malts, berries and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, yeas, berries, sourness, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sour and bitter. More like an oud bruin than a dubbel but nevertheless a pleasant beer.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, brown colour with a short and tanned foamy head. Fruit-accented aroma with notes of cherries and red berries, combined by a leafy dark malt-character including a whiff of dark chocolate. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Mildly toasted and leafy malty base with fruity notes and a touch of dark chocolate towards the sweet and delicately bitter finish; alcohol is well-hidden. Not bad. 27.X.12
