Bottle from Beerhive. Appearance - opaque black with a nice fawn head. Nose - burnt sugar on the edge of liquorice. There’s something that resembles wood and/or smoke. Intriguing. Taste - dark chocolate and nougat. So Toblerone. Burnt sugar on top of this. This calms down to Highland toffee in the finish. Palate - medium to full bodied with a big tangy texture. Despite this richness there is relative freshness in the finish.which is extremely long. Overall - delicious Scotch Ale. Almost as good as the regular version which is stunning. Great recipe Bob. Overall - Overall -

Bottle at home. It pours deep reddish amber with a medium white head. The nose is wood, brown bread, toffee, toast and honey. The taste is toffee, red fruits, tart berry, toast, spice and wood with a dry, oily finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Nothing particularly wrong with it, its just a fairly simple rye ale. OK.

Bottle from Alesela. It pours clear amber with a thick white head. The nose is sweet, doughy, grapefruit, candy and hay. The taste is bitter-sweet, doughy, lemon, grapefruit, light toast, spice, some bitterness and a touch of alcohol on the back end with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Hides abv pretty well. Not a whole lot of character, but drinkable enough.
