Description

(33cl bottle) Almost clear, golden colour with a medium-sized lacing foamy white head. It smells like a fresh Helles: moderately sweet, slightly bready malt aroma with notes of citrus and herbal hops. Medium-sweet, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation, chalky mouthfeel. Bready malty taste; sweet and slightly bitter, chalky finish. Decent stuff.

(bottle, also known as Spital Dultbier) Clear, pale golden colour with a short, but stable foamy white head. Moderately sweet and soft malt, slightly grainy nose with an aromatic citrousy fruitiness. Light bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a crispy, almost fizzy carbonation. Malty and fruity (citrus) taste; slightly sweet malty and slightly chalky finish with a faint bitterness. Plain but clean and drinkable.

(33cl bottle) Clear, amber colour with a mid-sized off-white foamy head. Sweet and fruity malt aroma, mildly toasted with citrus and a soft hoppy touch. Aromatic and slightly toasted malty and nutty taste with citrus and liquorice and caramel; malt-accented finish with a rounded bitterness and a slightly woody hop-character. My favourite Spital brew.

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a moderate, slowly lacing foamy white head. Slightly sweet, soft malty, aromatic herbal hop aroma with a pleasant citrus fruity touch. Light bitter flavour with a light salty impression, light to medium bodied, well-carbonated mouthfeel. Soft malty, herbal hoppy taste with subtle citrus fruity accents; dry, moderately bitter, slightly fruity and malty finish with an aromatic herbal, slightly flowery hops character. A good one.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of MoritzF. Slightly hazy, pale golden with a white head. Distinct maltiness in the aroma. Rather full-bodied with a solid malt base and a very warming alcohol. 180907

Blond color. If it was not for some more sweetness, I couldn’t tell from a normal Pale Lager; and I’m not impressed by higher alcohol content. Maybe I don’t like Heller Bocks...
