Can - Molasses and dark chocolate with some roast. Jet black with a light brown head. Bittersweet chocolate, some coffee notes and roast malts. Decent but nothing special.

Tasting at Jack’s RAH Annexe! Can. Lightly hazy amber beer, no real head. Palate is light and semi dry, not much carbonation. Light caramel and cream malts. Touch of marmite, Light semi dry finish. A bit flaccid and one dimensional.

Can, finally distributed to the western edge of the state. Pours a golden copper color with a monster beige head. Good aroma of citrus and floral, very lightly malty. Same carries through to the taste, but the hops really shine. Herbal and citrus with light florals. Really nice pale ale, one of the best Fargo beers I’ve had yet.

Can at Chateau Jackl, big thanks to Jacquiline for State tick #46, 13/08/14. Amber with a moderate light beige covering. Nose is light butterscotch, toffee, bready vibes, dark fruit notes. Taste comprises bready malt, bread pudding, toffee, dark fruit notes, light vanilla. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok for style and definately the best beer I’ve ever had from North Dakota!!!

Can shared at Casa Lowrey. Pours clear amber-gold with a foamy white head. The nose has toasty bred, caramel, toffee, dried fruits. Medium sweet flavor with brown bread, toasty caramel, light smoke. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, further bready malts and dry toffee, some currants, slight earth. Not bad.

Can at Castle Lowrey. It pours deep with a decent beige head. The nose is soft, fruity, caramel, dried fruits, light smoke and light spice. The taste is brown bread, earthy, dried fruits, mild spice, wood and leather very dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not a whole lot to it, but alright.

Sampled at All Pints North, 2014. Decent porter, but this is a style I think it is hard to do anything without without making it something else. Heavily roasted grain, with some tones of chocolate and coffee. If they called it an imperial stout I would have believed them. The beer is dry, but other than that, nothing here that makes me think of barrel aged beer.
