Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L's place. Thanks. Hazy brown. Malt, caramel, cookie, some fruitiness, a bit of stale hops, alcohol, sweet, boozy.

Straight from the can during Comedy Night in Albergen. Fresh hops, green tea, grass and a hint of mango in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with loads of fresh hops and mango. Slightly alcoholic. Yeast. Nice.

Bottle taken away from Cotteridge Wines. Mid- to dark golden with a pinkish hue. Light raspberry aroma with a tart funk. It's very sweet, almost artificially so, with little of the sourness promised in the aroma. Equally strange aftertaste, with some raspberry and gluey resin. Well-carbonated and refreshing enough. Strange beer but not altogether bad.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, drunk at home. It's dark brown with almost a dark green hue, with a light tan ring of head. Lots of whisky, vanilla, black olives, a touch of balsamic vinegar, cooking herbs, more whiskey. Mostly sweet taste but the dogged sourness of the whiskey tempers the sweetness. There's a savoury herbal/vegetal note that I can't quite place... it's a bit gamey like lamb gravy. Long finish dominated by boozy sourness with a bourbon burn going down. Tar liquorice and yeast extract in the finish. It's good, but also difficult. On one hand, it's too many jumbled flavours at once, on the other the whiskey is far too dominant. Certainly worth trying, I've not tried another beer like it.

Pours black, good , dark head that fades fast. Smell is robustly roasted, yet not ashy. Milder red fruity notes are clearly showing, but not recognizable as raspberry. Taste is rather bitter, sharp at start, but gets mellowed out by a robust, intense, red fruity, almost jammy sidenote. Would have personally preferred a thicker, sweeter basestout for this type of combo ( style raspberry with chocolate in food ) but its certainly very well made.

Bottle at home. Pours as a sort of murky purple mess, nose is blackcurrant, funk, taste is grass, fruit, vomit.
