Bottle from Whole Foods-Indian School Plaza. Medium golden body with creamy pour, both body and head. Aroma and taste reflect the grain bill, which is fairly subdued for the American craft palate. Texture prevails over the subtle flavors, making for a middle of the road pale ale.

750 mL bottle shared at the December MDF tasting. Hazy orange, medium fizzy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee, candi sugar, dark fruits. The taste is earth, dark fruits, caramel, spice, candi sugar. Medium bodied.

Cask gravity @ GBBF 2015. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty woody spicy dark fruit aroma. Fruity malty spicy woody caramel and dark fruit flavor. Has a fruity malty woody spicy caramel and dark fruit finish.

Bottle. Deep brown body with a frothy, beige head, mostly lasting. Aroma of roasted grain, chocolate, vanilla, light floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Taste of toasted grain, coffee and cocoa with light roast and hop bitterness carrying through the finish. Good porter.

12oz bottle at the November 2015 DC Gathering. Poured a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma was light grain, oats. Light brown sugar notes. Light dark chocolate, light sugar. Alright.

[ As Santa Fe ECS Highland Heath ].Clear medium orange amber color with a small to average, frothy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, berry, tart, wood. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, tart, wine, dark fruit, caramel, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is flat. [20150811]
