12 oz bottle poured. This beer falls under the category of: had it on draft, then had to buy the bottle. Didn’t plan on cracking it so soon, but it was damn good. Pours black with a minimal tan head. Sweet milk chocolate aroma. Flavor matches up front, with a huge candy mint chocolate finish. Lingering peppermint flavor. This beer was what I was expecting, which is good, because I expected it to be really good. Really enjoyed this one.

Pour is a pitch black with a large tan head. Aroma is a big mint with some underlying chocolate malt. Flavor is a small but potent mint followed by more of the chocolate malt. The mint was not totally in your face like some mint stouts, there was some room for the rich malt to make an appearance and there was no alcohol noticed at all. This was a pretty good flavored Impy stout where the flavoring did not get in the way of the base beer.

Keg at Capital Ale House Innsbrook. Pours a dark brown with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, leather, smoke, tinny hops. The taste is chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruits, raisin, citrus hops. Medium bodied mild lingering bitterness.

Location: 750 ml bottle shared from State Line, 2/9/15
Aroma: Heavily Belgian nose, some spice, clove, banana, candied sugar, and some dark fruit
Appearance: A slightly cloudy orange pour with a small off-white head and some sticky lacing
Flavor: Tastes along the same lines, heavy spice, sweetness, finishes a little bitter and more spice
Palate: The body is fairly full, sticky mouthfeel, average-to-lively carbonation, and a long duration
Overall Impression: This one leans much closer to the Belgian yeast side than it does to the IPA. Heavy and sticky. If you promise in the label that you "hopped the (expletive deleted) out of it," I need more hops than this.

Aroma: It has a fruity aroma, a bit of astringency/cleaner, with resin and pine coming through later
Appearance: It pours an unclear orange color with a small beige head and some spotty, coating lace
Flavor: Flavor-wise, there's a decent hop bitterness, slightly astringent, with a mild sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a soft-to-average carbonation, and a rather dry, astringent finish
Overall Impression: This is an alright DIPA, but it falls short for me. The hops and hop flavors are not all that well rounded. I found it a bit too flawed. Too much astringency. Still, its a decent beer, but in this style, it is on the lower end for me.

Tap at Brouwer’s - turbid orange - nose of juicy, citrusy american hops, place some tropical esters - low carbonation - sweet and intensely.tropical in flavor - noticeable alcohol, but fairly subdued for something so.strong - light phenolics late that play off the hops pretty well - good for something so.strong.

Capped 375 from Bine & Vine. Pours dark brn/blk with a tan head. Aroma is light mint with chocolate. (Compare Manzanita Enlightenmint) Full bodied or nearly. Flavor is earthy choclate with some mint, but this is not suggesting Junior Mints. Smoother and more refined than the Manzanita, but bold and brash has its virtues. Doing these beers back to back is illuminating. Both good beers, yet each is detectably different. Get both.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden straw color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, orange zest, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, cracker, bread, herbal, straw, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of bright citrus/fruity hops and light-moderate pale malt balance; with good strength. Taste of lemon, orange zest, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, cracker, bread, herbal, straw, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of peppery bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange zest, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, cracker, bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/fruity hops and light-moderate pale malt balance; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very nice pale ale style. All around good complexity and robustness of bright citrus/fruity hops and light-moderate pale malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
