3rd August 2022 GBBF Day 2. Cask. Almost clear dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, a little roast and a nice touch of dark chocolate Malteasers. A Smooth pine into modest ripe fruits. A little brighter hops on the back end bring both spice and a brighter citrus. Fairly dry finish. A will put together and tasty cask job

16 oz. can. Date: 05/03/22. Aroma is mild citrus and soft malt. In the flavor of the citrus is upfront with the Nelson herbal and in the background. Pretty easy drinking. Was hoping for more of the white grape character from the Nelson.

On tap as part of a flight at True West Brewery. Appearance is hazy yellow with light sparkle, thin cap of off white head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma is subtle wheat. Taste is strong wheat, coriander and mild tart fruit. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture average-to-lively carbonation and dry finish as taste. Overall, good strength of taste and representative of the style. A bit frothy and carbonation is too lively.

16 oz can. Dated: 12-13-21. Aroma shows weak fruit with decent amount of pine. Thankfully the flavor shows no resin. But again pine dominates over citrus. Lower bitterness. Extremely old school.

Very clear copper coloured body with a thin, off-white head that leaves a thin lace on the sides. Aroma of crisp grass with a light bite of alcohol, cleanser, herbal notes and some flowers, with a minimal sweetness. Medium-bodied; Strong rich astringent malts dominate up front, with a grassiness that's dry, but fairly pervasive with a crisp citrus and cleanser element and some slight sweetness, but fairly minimal. Aftertaste shows the pungent, astringent quality with a nice, crisp, very bitter hop note, but soft enough to be easy-ish drinking with some nice malt body that is balanced, however very pungent and one-dimensional, with a pungent bite, but still nice and reminiscent of IPAs of old. Overall, a crisp, astringent and very bittered IPA with a cleanser and citrus bite, but nothing too complex. Nice to try and robust - just like the East Coast Imperial IPAs from the mid 2000s! Nice, but without complexity - this one was nice to sample fresh-ish! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Union Square, 14th Street), New York on 02-May-2021 for US$4,99, canned on 28-September-2020, sampled at my house here in Washington on 08-June-2021.
