Description
Beer for purists. Pure & Simple. Here, amidst the pure shores and rolling glens of the Isle of Man, Okell's has been defined by our beautiful Island for over 170 years and guided, in all that we brew, by its unique Brewing Purity Law.

Dr. William Okell, a Cheshire surgeon, started Okell's Brewery in Castle Hill, Douglas, Isle of Man in 1850. He was a man of singular drive and ambition - by 1874 Dr. Okell owned many of the pubs on the island, had convinced Tynwald (the Isle of Man's parliament), to create an act ensuring the purity of beer brewed on the Isle of Man, and built The Falcon Steam Brewery just outside Douglas.

It's A Continuing Tradition...
We care about the beers we make, and for our Head Brewer Kevin Holmes, it's a never ending passion to create the perfect pint of Okell's. Making the perfect pint from only 4 ingredients is a special skill handed down by generations of Master Brewers.

Continuing our tradition of innovation, Okell's has the only wide gap plate and frame heat exchanger for heating the wort in the Copper in the British Isles.

Golden amber, light haze, frothy white head, some lacing
Aroma of grapefruit, citrus zest, sweet pale malts, decent amount of zest here
Taste as expected from the aroma, plenty of bitter citrus zest, pithy grapefruit, fairly sweet pale malts, lemony zest, malts let the hops thorough, clean fresh flavour
Palate - soft carb, medium body, good bitter sweet balance. Finish as main flavour, bitter zest, clean finish
Overall - Well made beer, clean, quaffable, easy drinking, very fresh

Bottle, thanks to Cuso. Aroma is fruity, earthy, English hops. Clear golden colour, poor head. Taste is rather hoppy, earthy, lightly fruity. Light high bitterness. A bit metallic in the finish. Average, unfortunately this did not really impress me.

Bottle from AlesByMail.co.uk. Dark golden, moderate hazy body, with a big, creamy, white head. Aroma is very grainy, with grass, hay, bread, citrus, flowers, candy and honey. Taste is pretty much the same, but with a more satisfying full body. Medium mouthfeel, oily, with a moderate carbonation and it finishes bitter and grainy again, with some citrus. Good English style IPA. Very well balanced and smooth to drink. The grainy notes feel very natural.

500ml bottle from B&M, Shrewsbury. Wasn’t expecting that aroma.. smells exactly like hop fields! Pours gold with lasting white head. Taste is afternoon brewery aromas, hop fields, lemon, citrus and raw hops. Wasn’t expecting much but this is very pleasant to drink.

Bottle from Ales By Mail. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy light tan head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel, and fruit, with notes of coffee. Bitter, roasty flavour, with sweetish touches of caramel malt, ending on a biiter, hoppy note again. Touches of liquorice. Bitter and roasty aftertaste. Okay, decent but nothing really extraordinary.
