Description
As the name suggests is Villers-devant-Orval a charming little village opposite Orval Abbey and Brewery. It was there that the history and legend of Saint Gengoulf led to the birth of the Gengoulf brewery and its craft beers. In 2011, four friends (André Odwa, Vincent Habran, Olivier Tarnus and Marc Hisette) decided to brew their own beer, which was slightly softer than that of the neighbors of Orval, and which their wives would also enjoy because they did not like the bitterness of Orval and in 2013 the brewery was actually established.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours a hazy gold, white head. Aroma is floral, sweet, continuing to taste with prominent Belgian yeast, some icing, vanilla, floral meadow, straw. Fairly high carbonation is a little off-putting, but generally an alright sweet Belgian blonde.

Hazy golden color with an ok white head. Ok lacing. Decent intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation level. Moderate acidity. Malty, fruity, yeast and mild citric flavor. Decent easy drinkable beer.

Fles gekocht en geprobeerd in Luxemburg met LiekevdV. Het is een troebel geel bier met een dunne schuimkraag. Het heeft een gistachtige geur, de smaak is zuur en een beetje citrus achtig.

26/VII/17 - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ holidays - BB: 14/III/19 (2017-1130)

Little hazy orange beer, big solid creamy off-white head, very stable, adhesive, leaving lots of lacing in the glass. Aroma: pretty fruity, sweet malts, grains, bit spicy, peppery touch, bit grassy, funky. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of brett, soft bitterness, funky, fruity, some citrus. Aftertaste: brett, little sweet, hoppy notes, bitter, orange peel, nice and complex beer while still being very refreshing. Have to admit I didn't pick up the mushrooms, but maybe that's for the best?
