22 oz bottle. Poured a dark, brown-ruby color, tan head. Aroma is... kind of weak. The beer may have been a bit too cold, as it warmed some notes started coming out. Flavor was another thing. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, raspberries. This was better than I expected and at 4.6% ABV, I was impressed it was as rich as it was. Good!

12oz bottle pours a fairly opaque black with a thin, beige head. Really nice aroma, fruity, peaches, grapefruit, lemons, floral, honey. Flavor holds the black malts, lightly roasty, light nuts, bread, but more sweetness, honey, flower pollen, a little licorice, a little coffee, a little earthy pine tar. Full bodied, dry finish. Very nice. It’s got a good IPA nose and a solid porter body which is almost exactly what you want from the style.

Bottle @ Ulfborg Easter Tasting, 2011. Pours unclear dark copper with a red hew and a small creamy off white head. Sweet malty nose. Toffee, nuts and alcohol. Sweet and sticky. Chewy malty. Caramel, fruit and a bit of alcohol. Sticky and oily. A sipper . .

Bottle, shared by Papsoe. It pours a beautiful, clear, dark amber to copper body under a small, dense, beige head. The aroma is quite nice, a rich caramel maltyness, some beef stock and pine cones as well as a touch of alcohol. The flavor is quite sweet, with a nice bitterness, a hint of anise, a good dash of dried fruits and warming alcohol. Full-bodied and warming, finishing sweet, with a nice bitterness and dried fruits. Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of TheCheeseMan. Pours amber with a slight haze and a small off-white head. Your typical US Barley Wine nose with hops and sweet caramel. Solid body, carbonation is a little low, sweet caramel, an oxidized note and a hoppy, minty finish. Not overly bitter. Quite a pleasant and balanced American Barley Wine. 170411

Coffee and tree bark nose with a chocolate undercurrent. Black with a thick firm brown head with good retention and glass adherence. Horehound and coffee with licorice hints. Full bodied, somewhat thick, mouth filling. Dusty aloe finish, but subdued. Prety neat impy, has character and balance. Hits all its marks with a little oompf.
