Bottle from Stiegl Getränkeshop in Salzburg. Color: Slightly hazy golden. Very thin white head. Aroma: Malty, sweet, honey and dates. Taste: Malty, spicy, over moderate sweet and light tart, notes of dates, honey. Floral, alpine meadow. Just over medium body, below average carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. Dry and long lasting spicy / herbal finish.Very interesting.

Bottle from Stiegl brewery shop. Color: Lightly hazy pale golden, thin white head. Aroma: Grainy, spicy notes. Taste: Grain, malty, fruity (yellow fruit, stonefruit) and spicy notes. Moderate to over moderate sweet, light bitterness, slightly sour. Medium body, below average carboation. Well brewed.

Bottle directly from Stiegl brewery shop in Salzburg. According to their description, this should be Gruit style in my opinion. Color: Lightly hazy golden, white head. Aroma: Herbal, spicy notes. Taste: Herbal, spicy, floral. Like drinking an Austrian alpine meadow. Light sweet and moderate to over moderate herbal bitterness. Just below medium body, below average carbonation. Long lasting herbal finish. Nice experiment from Stiegl Wild Shut.

Bottle. Color: Hazy golden, white head. Aroma: Hoppy, fruity. Taste: Hoppy, grassy and citrus fruit (grapefruit, orange, lemon hints). Malty backbone with notes of bread. Moderate to over moderate bitterness, light to moderate sweet. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Long lasting fruity and hoppy finish. Ok.

Bottle from shop at Stiegl brewery. Color: Ruby, thin beige head. Aroma: Malty, caramel. Taste: Malty, dark malt, caramel, lightly roasted malt. Moderate sweet, light hopbitterness at the background. Very slightly sourish. (Barley) Medium body, just below average carbonation. Light sugary hints.

Auf jeden Fall das interessantere der beiden Stiegl Wildshut-Spezialbiere auf dem CBF 2023 Es wird mit allerlei Aromen wie Pflaumen, Ribisel oder gar Schokolade geworben, was ich aber eher rudimentär bemerkte. Rotwein und belgisches Roodbier traf es schon besser. Aber am allerbesten passte die Beschreibung Balsamico, denn dieses Aroma gab den Ton an. Dabei war es aber nicht bissig, sondern erinnerte eher an Trinkessig und zauberte auf der Zunge mit den anderen Aromen auf jeden Fall einen coolen und doch alt-ehrwürdigen Geschmack. Mehr als ein Achterl brauche ich davon nicht, aber es freute mich, dass ich es kennenlernen konnte.

Das erste der beiden speziellen schweren Bier, welche die Stiegl WIldshut-Brauerei am CBF anbietet. Wie es sich für ein solches Bier gehört, das sich in keinen bekannten Stil einordnen lässt, bekommt man eine schöne Erklärung dazu. DIeses Naturbier mit wilder Hefe und im Quevri (Amphore) gereift ist wirklich intensiv grasig mit Trockenfrüchtenoten nach Datteln und Kletzen. Dabei ist es aber nicht so intensiv-fruchtig, wie manche klassische Barley Wines. Es lässt sich wirklich schwer einordnen, da es weder auf der intensiven Barley Wine-Seite noch auf der urigen Urkornbierseite steht, sondern ist ein lustiger Hybrid. Auf jeden Fall ein interessantes Experiment.
