I drank this one fresh when it was still delicious. Amber pour. Strong nose of candied sugar, malt, toffee and caramel molasses. Taste is similar. Strong body. Rated 4/11/03

275 ml bottle from 2005. Appearance: Clear amber/brown with no head. Aroma: Malt, fruit and vinous. Flavour: Malt, dark fruit, vinous, prunes and despite almost no co2 and 10% ABV no dominant alcohol flavour.

I aged this one a lot. Thick tar like color, but thin. Lots of resin molasses in the flavor and nose. Rated 4/5/10

Large yeast deposit floating in the glass. If you can get past that, it’s quite good. Dark molasses pour. No head. Sweet taste. What you’d expect from the genre. Rated 4/18/10

*** RATING #3600 *** bottle, kindly donated by pivnizub, shared with Allen. The cork was slightly moldy, but stuck perfectly in the bottle. Clear golden colour with some cork floaties, no head. Brilliant, intensive aroma of sherry and wood. Full-bodied, loads of sherry, perhaps some malt whiskey. Delicious malty base with a shy fruity touch (dried apricots) and quite a large amount of bittering hops in the lingering finish. However, the sherry character remains in the foreground. Shy carbonation, smooth palate. An enourmously delicious beer - thank you very much pivnizub for letting me have a bottle of it!

Thanks Alex! Ugly brew - flat, full dark amber. Muddy with protein or yeast particulate. Rich aroma - some sherryish notes but mostly the bad kind of oxidized. Flat, oily, with some fruity tartness but generally an oxidized malty beer with out much life.

1996 bottle #4769 from Capital Ale House, Fredericksburg, VA. Pours a dark brown color with absolutely no head whatsoever. Aroma is rich and malty with notes of toffee, sherry, soy, raisins and other dried fruits and some wood. Taste is toffee, soy, sherry, cherries, raisins, oak, caramel and stale hops. Fairly bitter. Smooth, medium bodied.

Orange-brown color with zero head and zero carbonation. An old bottle, for sure. Extremely oxidized and vinegery. Soy sauce, sherry, dust, funk, some fruit. This did not stand the test of time.

’96 @Tampa Wkly Gathering-500ml bottle–Thanks Ibrew2or3-pours no head and dark red color. Aroma is cherry/raisin/plum, earthy. Taste is cherry/raisin/plum, earthy, sweet medium malt. Some tanins. Mild/minimum carbonation.
