Bottle: Amber, hazy, lots of floaties visible, smaller fluff-white head; molasses, malt and dried fruits in the shy nose; solid sweetish-sourish flavour, full bodied; alcohol burn in the port-like and bitter finish. Not that good.........

2001 vintage. An anemic brown ale with almost no head. In aroma, oxidized malt with a bit of soy sauce, dark fruits, not bad. In mouth, a rather lifeless and oxidized ale with notes of madera, licorice, and light molasses, very thin and tired. Tasted Nov. 5 2009 with GRM and Mike H.

Deep red-ruby color, no head. Strawberry, cut grass, smokey wood, fruit sugar in the nose - what a mix. Liquerish palate. Sweet berries, strong wine (Finnish Gambina), some sourness, lots of Madeira wine and Moscatel. Excellent dessert wine ... err .. beer I mean. Aged very well, doesn’t feel like 12% anymore.

Bottle 27,5 cl. Slightly hazy amber golden with a tiny, rough, off-white head. Aroma of fruit and caramel with a tart edge. Medium body, completely flat, notes of white wine and a whiff of Brett and perhaps a little wood. Warming alcohol in the finish, slightly leathery but no bitterness as such. Very interesting - and classic Gales. 120709

Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours slightly hazy copper with gold edges and thin tan head. The aroma is full with prunes, cherries, red apples, caramel candy and a thin layer of earthiness. Smells very much like yum. The taste has cherry and sherry notes. Toward midway it also picks up caramel and earthiness. It ends sweet and smooth. It tastes like this beer is only getting better.

275ml bottle 16Mar06–pours a dissipating foam/bubbly off white head and cloudy amber color. Aroma is fruit-orange, medium malt-caramel, herbal hops. Then prune/pineapple. Taste is medium malt-caramel, alcohol, citrus, herbal/pine-ish hops, prune. A lot going on, although not my taste. Nose can be put under an old ale, taste under ESA (possibly from conditioning for 3+ years). Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for bring this back from his trip across the pond.
