2003 bottle. Pours with a small, off-white head covering an amber body with lots of particles. Some lacing from the head. Aroma of port, fruits, some spiceyness, and lots of oxidized hops. Taste is oxidized, sour, over the hill with lingering bitter rasins. Too old, but I was expecting it, eventhough I bought it from a Whole Foods on the day that I drank it.

Bottle (2005 vintage). Getting the plastic off the cap area proved to be the first major hurdle... then realizing that I didn’t have a cork screw on me... the things I don’t do for this \"hobby.\" As I finally wear down the bottles resistance, I find a murky brown with a bit of fizzy carbonation and dank and sour aromas. At this point I’m wondering if it will be more like a sour or an old ale. After first sip, I have to say that this is a rather unique ale. Flavors swirl back and forth between sweet and stickymalts and sour apples and acidic vinegar. Interesting, but I’m not sold.

Bottle. Brewed in 2005. Vinous dark fruit aroma. Dark hazy amber color with no head at all. Full in body with essentially no carbonation. Flavor is a bit flat, then dark fruit, fortified wine, and something grape. Makes the mouth go strange. It’s very tasty. Something like brandy cask wood comes forth. There’s a paperishness towards the finish. Could be old cherry notes. So glad Fullers hasn’t "retired" this.

Bottle. A quite dark golden, clear bear without head. Nice oxidized nose with alcohol and sweetness. Port as well? Sweet, slightly vinegary flavor, proving that oxidation can be good, but it’s too sourish/vinegary in the finish. Medium body. A complex, lovely oxidized beer. Suspect it’s even better fresh, though.
