Dark orange red, still. Pretty unpleasant IMO. Some rotten fruits, like rancid raisins. Cork was semi-disintegrating and showed signs of leakage, but despite some mild sherry qualities in the finish it wasn’t overtly oxidized, nor was it obviously corked. Finish was mildly tannic and vinous.

Bottle during Tropical Storm Fay- about 8 years old. Corked had dried and disintegrated when I tried to pull it. I srtained most out. Beer was quite fortunately not corked! In fact the aroma was a gorgeous mix of berries (raspberry, strawberry) and spring flowers. Color a ruddy brown, with the expected lack of carbonation or head. No oxidation, the flavor is berryish, with a sweetish vinous finish that hints at dry red wine, with a mild tannic quality.

Bottle from Healthy Spirits in S.F. It’s the old style bottle with a cork, but I can’t find any dates. God knows how old this is. A remnant from the single batch in 2001? Ripe apricot color with an off-white head that went down rapidly. Aromas of rich, light stone fruit (cooked) and light malt. Rather thin in body with very light carbonation. Flavor is leather, stone fruit of the lighter sorts, wood. Finish is dry with fruit notes. Worship. Hop bitter is present, but balances against fruit sweetness. In a strange way, this could be considered a sour ale. I’ll consider it an ale with a tinge of sour. Died and gone to heaven. Wish I’d bought them all (and there were not many). Bottle conditioned rules. Yes, it does.

2002 bottle that might have been past its prime. Pours with no head, but a couple of bubbles covering a slightly hazy deep-red body. Aroma of currants and oxidation. Taste is thin oxidized, starting off with a very off note, and then finishing fruity and a bit spicey. Syrupy, but too thin.

Thin coarse brownish head. Opaque brown body with yeast sludge at the bottom. Wooden vinuous banana and licorice aroma with yeast, honey, and alcohol notes. Dry-sweet fruity roasty alcoholic taste with wooden yeasty bananaish notes. Thin-bodied. Dry acidic wooden grainy metallic barnyard aftertaste. Not a success. Might have been stored improperly. Bottle. Frothy white almost no head. Orange colour. Moderate malty and hoppy and very vinius aroma. Light sweet and bitter flavor. Honey, toffee and orange notes. Slightly acetic! Average finish and creamy palate. Not well-balanced beer.

Iโm not really sure why puzzl sent me such an excellent high quality brew, retired none the less. This beer is too good for me. Corked 9.3 oz bottle Aroma is intoxicating alcohol. All kinds of cool looking sediment in this bottle. No indication of carbonation what so ever in the pour. Taste is like wine and there is no carbonation on the palate. No hop bite and for some reason I was expecting a hop bite. The taste is surprizingly enjoyable for a flat brew. Very fine and reserved in the flavors. Easy to drink without any alky apprehension. I donโt think I have ever tasted a beer such as this. The closest thing I can think of that tastes like this is the wine my grampa used to make down in the basement of his Italian house in big wooden barrels. Finish is again winelike and mellow. 275ml bottle gotten by mcbackus at Knightly Spirits; Nose of berries, raisins, brown sugar, toffee, and light spiciness; cloudy red-brown with a medium beige head; flavor is sweet raisin pie, spices, and a bit of tartness; finish is slightly tart and brown sugary! Kind of like a croass between a BW and a spicy Belgian!
