About
St. Peter's is an independent brewery founded in 1996 by John Murphy in former agricultural buildings adjacent to St. Peter’s Hall in St Peter, South Elmham, near Bungay, Suffolk, England. Siting the brewery at St. Peter’s was ideal because of the excellent water quality from our own deep bore-hole. Locally malted barley is used, together with Kentish hops, to produce a range of classical beers (bitters, mild etc.) as well as some more unusual beers such as honey porter and fruit beer.

Fun fact: The oval shape of its signatory 500 ml bottle is based on an 18th-century gin bottle from Gibbstown, by the Delaware River near Philadelphia, USA.

(Bottle 50 cl) Beautiful amber golden with a small head. Lovely caramelish aroma. Quite dry with notes of caramel and nuts. Not much malty sweetness is left here, but the finish is marked hoppy. 060101

Bright white head that lingers lightly. Very golden color. Doesnt quite have the taste you’d expect from an ale.

Bottle from Once Upon a Vine North on 05/01/2011. Dark black body with a medium frothy light brown head. Sweet fruit, caramel, and molasses aroma. Sweet smokey and fruity flavor with roast and chocolate. Medium body with moderately low carbonation. 6/5/6/3/12 3.0 On 11/10/2005. Small dark brown head, an aroma that resembles a scottish ale. Strong taste of coffee. 7/4/5/4/12 - 3.2

Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Medium body, creamy and smooth mouthfeel. As in the aroma, coffee and chocolate dominate the flavor. There is a slight smokiness as well over a layer of sweet malts. A bit of bitter arrives on the finish.

Dark ruby, nice creamy tanned head, some lace. Aroma is woody-oaky with some sweet notes and a bit of licorice. Medium-bodied. Nutty, woody hops, some sweetness underlying. Good hoppyness in the aftertaste, but maybe lacks a real character to be inspiring.

Cask at Jerusalem Tavern. Bit of an oddity this one, had it on the recommendation of the person next to me. Black hardly any carbonation. To me it tasted a bit like an old ale. Some spice, but won’t be trying it again in a hurry

Cask at Jerusalem Tavern. Always been a sucker for ginger flavoured beers and this was no differnt. I like it. Wonderful mix of stem ginger and lemon fruit.

Cask at Jeruselem Tavern, London. Mid brown slightly amber beer. Excellent session beer tha just pours back, butwith enough tasty spicy malt and hops to keep you wanting to come back for more

Sampler from bottle at Binny’s, Orland Parh, First test of one of these little flasky bottles. I’d agree, it’s more of a sweet stout than a creamy one: still has a big roasty malt flavor and more than a hint of alcohol. Then some slight creaminess comes out in the wash. In this case, the beer lives up to the unusual packaging.
