On tap at the brewpub. Hazy copper under a small off white head that leaves sparse lace. Nose is light caramel and prominent grassy hops. Light sweet with a medium bitterness. Mouth is medium and slightly sticky with average carbonation and a long bitter finish. 8/4-/7+/3+/16-

Hazy, light tan. No head. The aroma is skunked and stank...no sign of the brighter hops, more like cheesy oxidized hop. Has a bitter, sort of sulphury note, a fair bit of chewy malt, and a dash of alcohol.

650mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out earthy hops, sweaty notes, and biscuity malt. Flavour is very musty and sweaty, with lots of boiled vegetables, sweaty notes, BO and astringent hoppiness on the finish. Very sweaty and vegetal. No good at all.

Draught @ Devil’s Elbow. This has a bit of toasty malts, not a lot of saisony character, just some light esters. More for fans of brown ale than farmhouse.

The cream ale base is focused on clean, bready pale malts. Not much bitterness. Light raspberry taste...well balanced but ultimately uncreative old school raspberry ale. I don’t hate the beer on its merits, but it’s 2017 for fuck’s sake. Most places stopped brewing this type of beer in the 90s.

Poured from 1L bottle. Clear amber brown with beige head. Mild oak, hint of caramel malt, very light pine hops. Is almost as if they made a crappy IPA and said, "I know how we can save this... we can age it in oak so people will buy it." Not terrible, but very average.

On tap at R & B, pours a hazy dark amber with a small white head. Aroma reveals earthy notes and subdued saison yeast. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted malt, saison yeast and earthy notes. Light on the palate, with a dry, dirty finish. Solid.

Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a ruddy amber color with a sly transparency about it. Finger’s worth of white foamy head quickly dissipated. Left some stringy lace.
The aroma had some nuts, toast, brown sugar and a touch of caramel malts.
The flavor blended the prior noted aromas sweetly and then the toast and just a tad of roast. Semi-sweet malty aftertaste with a nutty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt spot on.
Overall, nice amber ale worthy of coming back to if I could get it again.

Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was hazy golden orange color with a little off-white head that died off at a nice pace. Mild stringy lace.
The aroma had some breadiness and herbal hop quality. Some rye sweetness but not spiciness.
The flavor leans towards the bready malts, semi-sweet and bringing back those herbal malts to persevere through the rye sweetness. Once again, rye is not spicy. Sly rugged malty sweetness in the aftertaste. Subtle malty sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sesionability about it. Mild carbonation. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, English styled amber ale? Possibly and with a decent creativity of the rye in there, too bad it’s only the sweet side of the rye as if it had the spicy portion of it, that would definitely amplify the final score.
