Purchased by Tilray in 2022. Our story started in 1998 with two friends who noticed a lack of fresh beer on Long Island and wanted to lower their bar tabs. We built a brewery on Long Island's South Shore in Patchogue, a tough and humble coastal town. In 2014, Blue Point partnered with Anheuser-Busch, joining its family of craft brands in The High End business unit. Our operations, brewing and management team continue to be led from Patchogue, N.Y. In 2019 we opened our new brewery on Patchogue's Main Street. This new facility will not only increase our brewing capacity, but will also lets beer lovers experience the people and place that inspire Blue Point every day. And we're pretty damn proud to be a part of that.
Pour is a hazy blonde with a large white head. Aroma is a ok mosaic tropical fruit but this also has a bit of metal. Flavor is some tropical fruit and dry bready malt. A moderate amount of bitterness hits you after the swallow. This was a decent session ale. For this brewer, this is one of the more hoppier beers they make.
Bottle at home in Beer Hawk advent calendar. More of an ale than a lager and a surprising richness to the beer. A dark colour, little head and a strong sweet maltiness to the beer. Perhaps a bit too sweet for me.
12oz can. I am just drinking this stuff to break into the top 5 for Blue Point after years of thinking it would never happen. But apparently no one but me cares to rate them from the old gang (or rate at all).
Is this a little stereotypical? Is this a beer? Just artificial lime and salt aroma, like I squeezed some in. It's BP tick at least. 736312
Sample @ GABF 2017. Pours a hazy yellow color with a small white head. Has a fruity peachy hoppy aroma. Fruity malty peachy citrus hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty peachy hoppy finish.
Refrigerated 16 oz. aluminum can pouredinto a weizen glass. Hazy light orange with small-white head. Aroma is sour plum, medium/light body, lower carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is tart plum and salt.
This pours from 12oz bottle(best by June 2007) a clear amber with a huge head of foam that shrinks fairly quickly leaving a fine broken layer with some lacing.
The smell has a big nose of sweet malt and has a bit of a fruity note to it.
The taste on first sip has a caramel malt flavour with some hop bitterness in the background to take the edge off the sweetness.
Further sips in and I'm getting just a wee touch of spice...I'd call it cinnamon. There's also some graininess and a bit of tartness. The mouthfeel is on the light side and tends to be watery at times but the flavours keep me interested enough to make me kind of over look that negative. The finish is somewhat biscuity and ends slightly on the bitter side. This is pretty good stuff.
Bottom line: I like this Amber Lager and I thank jwc215 for including this in our trade!
Can, on the airplane. Light brown colour, thin head. Aroma is much more caramelly than toasty. Same thing on the palate...it's really a sweet, caramelly lager, and that's it.
