Description
Our Story
Hello! We are an independent craft brewery in downtown Phoenix, on the border of the Roosevelt and Encanto neighborhoods. Our beers explore the boundaries of what it means to be a farmhouse style beer— we include high quality local and seasonal ingredients to create unique, flavorful beers and explore a wide range of styles from funky saisons and sours to modern IPAs and ales.

We are located in the building that was home to beloved Easley’s Fun Shop for over 70 years and are aiming to continue the tradition of a family business with a strong focus on community. Our small foundational team is the beating heart behind the delicious beer and personal connection in our space and we are so thankful for their energy and creativity in these early months.

We opened our doors in May 2022 but we started growing our vision 2 years earlier. Working remotely and isolating indoors, we envisioned a business that would contribute to the community– create connections among our neighbors, highlight artists and small businesses and support local organizations and causes.

Through our beers, we purchase the highest quality ingredients we can find, purchase seasonal fruits and source local grains and malts from local farms that feed our community and demonstrate sustainable practices.

‍Through our taproom, we look to cultivate an inclusive space that is welcoming to everyone, creating connection through our very varied interests. We seek out high quality non-alcoholic options so more people feel welcome in our space, and we aim to fill our taproom with personal details, buying small, promoting artists, highlighting local businesses that we admire and hosting live music.

‍Through our choices, we have committed to donate 1% of our revenue to 1% for the Planet. Additionally, we regularly support local organizations both through monetary donations and by sharing our space and our platform.

We will promote what inspires us and encourage community engagement. Breweries can be about more than just beer and as we grow, we will continually look for ways to realize our vision. So, welcome to our new home at Roses by the Stairs! May you find delicious cold beer, a delightful board game, friendly people and creative inspiration within!!

Pint can pours with a nice deep dark mahogany that supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a blend of citrus to spicy to a dash of tropical fruity hops as well as modest malty roastiness. The taste delivers an easy drinking CDA with a pleasing balance of moderate hop bitterness and malt roastiness. I get citrus hops heading into grapefruit like hop bitterness paired with a faint sense of tropical hop fruitiness and then growing spicy hops edged in a sort of pine like bitterness. Beneath the hops are dark roasted hops, on equal footing with the hops, as well as thin murmurs of chocolate maltiness toward the finish. This is a nice balanced yet right to style brew. Well done.

Poured up on tap at tipsy where it exhibits an opaque hazy dull gold body that supports a nice near white head of foam. The mild aroma offers up mango, pineapple, a bit of cantaloupe and then murmurs of tangy tangerine and faint grapefruit. The taste delivers smooth soft mango and cantaloupe ad well as more tangy and hop bitter notes of tangerine, tangelo and grapefruit. Overall it maintains a nice balance that bleeds toward being a little too soft and sweet.

32oz growler pours with a deep dark mahogany colored body that supports a full tan head of foam. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts mingling with firm dark roasted coffee notes leading to a soft smooth subtle smoke sensation. The taste is similar as it delivers plenty of roastiness going from highly roasted malts to highly roasted coffee and then a bit of spicy maple notes. To midway faint vanilla bean comes to the surface just as the various sweet notes unveil a cloud of smokiness. Another sip and the smokiness seems to join up with the roasted coffee creating a mild wood char flavor. Fun beer.

Pint can pours with a clear deep gold colored body that supports a nice near white head of foam. The aroma offers up a blend of orange marmalade and grapefruit followed by a murmur of maltiness. The taste has that classic west coast hop depth and crispness. I get a pleasing blend of tangy tangerine and some orange running up against a bitter wall of grapefruit hop bitterness. A few more sips reveals a thin layer of mango like tropical notes creating a bit more depth. Solid West Coast IPA. I can, and will, drink a lot of this.
