Description
The Anstee family began supplying the hospitality trade in South Wales with beers, wines and spirits in the early 90’s. The knowledge and community ties established during this time gave us a real desire to see quality Welsh beer back on local bars. So much so we thought we’d brew some ourselves, starting out as the Kite Brewery in 2011. In 2015 and with our beers now winning awards and wider recognition we decided a new name was in order.

500ml bottle from Tesco Wrexham. Pours a generally clear golden yellow, good frothy white head. Aroma is surprisingly zesty and bright, good citrus. Taste is again surprisingly bright and zesty, excellent crisp citrus, nice grapefruit, coming across extremely fresh. Proof that a golden ale can be bright, flavoursome and hoppy without resorting to boring bready yeast and sweet malt.

Bottle that Dad shared - cheers! Clear, almost glowing gold in colour with a white head and a light fizz. Decently full, lightly resinous mouthfeel. Floral taste with sweet lemon coming. May be a tad on the sweet side for some, but nevertheless, in a table of supermarket golden ales this would be well up near the top. Nice!

Bottle, courtesy of Totnes. The person, not the place. Clear, pale copper colour. Fine, messy white head. Nose has fruited loaf. Buttered toast. Damp, sweet grain. Toffee. Taste is fairly sweet and malty, with a light, fruity hop bitterness. Medium body. Bright carbonation. Bittersweet finish. Ok golde. Didn’t burn me lips too badly.
