Fruity tart. The mainpart has lots of beetroot tartness with fruity apples. Earth, fruit. Interesting. The aftertaste is beetroot, fresh-fruity, earthy vegetables.

At the Royal Oak, Twerton, 25/82014. Cloudy yellow in colour with no head or carbonation. Easy drinking cider, with some medium fruit but not a lot of character. Ok.

Barrel/bag thingy at the Merchants Inn, Rugby, 03/08/14. Murky pineapple juice yellow with no head. Nose is apple mulch, light smoke, sweet peardrop. Taste comprises woody notes, sweet apples, light rum trace in a fine light drying close. Ok stuff.

Bag-in-a-box at White Lady JDW. Pours clear pink, no head. Aromas of fresh beetroot, light apple. Taste is more apple with beetroot at the back. Lacks that earthy note I’ve had in other beetroot flavoured drinks, which is no bad thing. Not bad.

Cask at the Bankers Draft, Bedford. Clear, mauve (yes, mauve) and still. Aroma of apples mostly, with a hint of beetroot. Taste is initially too saccharin, then the umami savouriness of the beetroot kicks in. Wonderfully confusing umami-laden aftertaste. I like this (probably more than I should).

Bag in a box, chilled, from William Stead JDW Darlington. Bright purple pinkish-red colour, no head and aroma of beetroot, apple, vinegar. Taste is earthy beetroot with apple, vanilla & barnyard notes. Light bodied, low carbonation, fairly clean finish with some lingering beetroot. Interesting, Quite OK.

50 cl bottle @ PBF Ⅸ, BBE 01.05.2017
Aroma is sour with lactic notes and hints of apples. Flavour is sour with lactic tones, some earthy notes and green apples. Rather unusual cider; instead of apples this has lactic sourness.
