Description
The Alchemist is a family run brewery specializing in fresh, unfiltered IPA. John and Jen Kimmich originally opened The Alchemist as a 60 seat brew pub in the village of Waterbury in 2003. After eight years of success and growing popularity, they decided to open a small production brewery. Today The Alchemist currently operates two breweries in Vermont and distributes Heady Topper and Focal Banger throughout the state.

Can from the brewery - Vermont trip 2022. Real dark, blackish colour with a touch of ruby highlights. The head is big, frothy, lightly creamy, mocha-coloured with good retention and foamy lacing lines. Roasted malt base with some grassy hop, chocolate malts and apple notes. The burnt barley continues in the taste with some good dryness from the hops, to cut the syrupy feel. A decent British dry Imperial Stout.

0,473l can from Hops & Hopes online store. Canned 1.8.2022. Hazy slightly light yellow beer with huge and stable, cloudy head. Aroma has hops, pine, exotic fruits, citrus dominating. Flavor has dry and mildly bitter grapefruit, other exotic fruits, hops, pine and dank. Very tasty, fruity, semi dry, long citrusy and piney, resinous aftertaste. Nice one.

Can from the brewery that pours a slight hazed, golden-yellow colour with a frothy white cap, good retention and some foamy lacing. Some particles do show up eventually. Orange peel nose with mild spices. The flavours show a bit of the same. The mouthfeel is crisp and juicy with a light dryness in the finish. A little rich and on the sweet side, but goes down nicely overall.

Can from Jeff, thanks for the hookup! Pours a hazy golden orange color with a good sized frothy white head that persists. Spicy pine and citrus dominate the nose with hints of tropical and sweet bread. Flavor follows very nice brew.

Bottle at FOAM, 8/13/22. Hazy strawberry. Small, pinkish head. Juicy strawberry with mild acidity and good malt backing. Rich fruitiness almost obscures the beer aspect but smells fantastic. Tart and bracing, growing sour and also juicy. Very eye-opening. Soft, malty, supportive texture. Love the fruit character but I'm pretty over acetic-heavy sours so....

Pours a slightly unclear blonde, medium sized white head. Scent is full, noticeable hops. Bit creamy, soft. Taste is full, very fresh and crisp. Malty, creamy, mild bitterness - to my surprise . Very elegant. Ends a bit sweet, even. Medium carbonation. lovely, not amazing, and not as hop-forward as I had expected.
