Great Newsome Brewery
Regional Brewery in Winestead, East Yorkshire, England 🏴
Established in 2007
We don’t try to reinvent the wheel. We keep it simple, using superb natural ingredients to make beer that you can sit back and enjoy, without even thinking about it. Which in our opinion is the sign of a very good pint indeed. It’s traditional craft beer with a modern twist.
Growing our own malting barley gave us a good start and we have since developed special strains of yeast as well as experimenting with homegrown hops, although they are difficult this far north.
Visiting our shop, you’ll be sure of a tail wagging welcome from our English Springer Spaniels, descendants of the late Jem, our mascot who is fondly remembered on bottle labels and draft beer bar tags.

Cask @ Regal Moon, Rochdale. Dark amber with a creamy head. Orange fruit is very evident as a sweet aroma, but quite bitter in taste whilst retaining plenty of the fruit. Interesting winter warmer.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours “bitter brown” with a small off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has lemongrass and some hints of summer fruits. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a creamy texture. Flavour starts off with malts and biscuits and a hint of apples, but later some traditional hops come through with traces of mango, leading to a somewhat bitter finish. This is a reasonable old school strong bitter.
