13/7/2021. Cast at the Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Pours slightly hazy pale golden orange with a small creamy white head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, flowers, malt, grass. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Moderate body, slightly watery, soft carbonation. “It’s bland” - so the Mrs said. Hard to argue her conclusion.

Cask pint @ The Abbey, Shrewsbury. Pours clear amber, with a good collar of white foam. Aroma is nutty malt. Taste is nutty sweet, nicely presented, woody moments with a nice bitter close. Decent cask bitter.

440ml can. Pours jet black with a medium head. Aroma is big peanut butter and milk chocolate, like its namesake. Taste has milk chocolate to start with a peanut butter finish.

Draught at the brewery tap, Little Eaton. Light yellow gold, slightly hazy with a small white head and considerable lacing. Aroma is not particularly enticing with plastic and vanulla/banana notes stemming from the lactose. However it tastes much better with the sweetness driving the flavour toward the finish. I've had great Milkshake UPAs and shit ones, but this one is... okay. Actually better than okay.

Keg tap at the Shiny Tap, Little Eaton. Mid-golden with a slightly neon orange hue and a large loose off-white head. Smells of candied orange peel and light notes of lemon balm. Sweet taste with very little let-up until the very finish with some gentle astringent bitterness. Heavy carbonation. Stats off fairly boring but becomes more special with each sip.

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Light yellow, a little bit hazy with a smallish and slightly loose white head. Gentle yet punchy hops with grapefruit, light floral notes, lemon creme. Sweet taste, more grapefruit and lemon with a biscuits note and a baby noticeable savoury twist toward the finish. Watery body, soft carbonation. Decent stuff, although it is missing that intensity found in the better hoppy pales.

Cask at Furnace, Derby. In terms of aroma, this has a faint hint of apples, but not much else. It pours a slightly hazy pale straw with a small white head, good lacing and low carbonation. The flavour is general citrus on a bed of sweet malts and biscuits. There are traces of apples and kiwi fruit too. The finish is generally sweet, but also hoppy at the same time. It’s OK, but not the most exciting beer I’ve ever drunk
