Description
Shiny was established in 2012, as a small scale operation, brewing in Derby mainly for its brew pub. Now based in the beautiful village of Little Eaton, just outside of Derby. The brewery is based in the centre of the village and has a taproom which features all Shiny’s new beers and one off pilots. Our beer story began with untraditional highly hopped cask beer and now has evolved into brewing a range of cask, keg and cans, the ethos is still the same brew beers we love to drink which means lots of hops! All beers are unfined and a good number of our core range is certified Gluten Free.

Can from Swan in the Rushes, Loughborough. Light almost lagery yellow, little head but plenty of visible carbonation. I get a lot of lemon in the aroma, it's a sweet almost lemonade-y scent, but pleasant and not artificial. Sour taste, I'm not getting a lot of the salt but the sourness does fade for a more balanced finish. Light citrus and a touch if vanilla in the aftertaste. Heavily carbonated. Yes please.

Bottle courtesy of Dad, cheers Dad. Had Kedgeree for tea tonight, very nice, listening to Tom Ravenscroft on 6Music with Wednesday 18th November 2020. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Tangy and fruity with a suggestion of red berries, however the described flavours eventually flood through with coconut mushrooms jostling with a little bitter chocolate. Very good indeed.

Cask at Furnace, Derby Pours a golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Nose has mainly generic citrus with some traces of nuts. Hoppiness is the main feature in the mouth. There are fruits too – mainly orange and lime. Finish is slightly bitter. A bit forgettable really.

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Light gold with a thin white head and uneven lacing. Grapefruit, lemon and vanilla notes in the aroma. The bitterness in the taste is a surprise, it's quite jarring with a touch a fruit juice sour. A nice change from super sweet NEIPAs but the balance doesn't quite work for me.
