Duncan Sambrook founded Sambrook’s Brewery in 2008 when there were just five breweries operating in London. With his vision of bringing brewing back into the heart of London, Duncan pulled ex-brewer David Welsh out of retirement and back into his dungarees and wellies. To

Cask at The Harp, London. Copper colour, low white head. Moderate aroma of malts and toffee. Smooth moderately malty flavour, not sweet though, hints of nuts in the finish, low bitterness.

Cask (hand pump) at the Bree Louise, London. Copper colour, low off-white head. No aroma detected. Soft and smooth mouthfeel and flavour, nutty malts. Low bitterness.

On gravity at the Bree Louise, London 11/1/2011. Dark brown with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of sweetish dark fruit, chocolate and some roasted malts. Flavour of prunes, raisins, milk chocolate and coffee, with a dryish finish. Good.

Bottle from Mr Lawrence Wine Merchants, Brockley. Very dark brown, almost black pour with a beige head. Coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, raisins and licorice aromas. Dark chocolate and vanilla flavours with some light coffee notes. Dry and malty. Very good.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 25 Nov 2010) Black colour with brief, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with chocolate, dark fruit, raisins and prunes. Roasted, malty taste with notes of chocolate, caramel, dark fruit, sweet coffee, wort and raisins. Medium body, fairly sweet, with a generous cocoa/coffee bitterness. Very nice porter.

ChrisOs Christmas Tasting. Clear brown red beer. Residual tan head. Mild carbonation. A little soft and dry. Minerally dark malt. Some subtle blackcurrant and other fruits of the forest. Dry finish. Nice fruity porter.

Cask (gravity) @ 27th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2010, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, EnglandClear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, pine needles, light to moderate yeasty, banana, estery, belgium yeast alike ! Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20101130]
