Duncan Sambrook founded Sambrook’s Brewery in 2008 when there were just five breweries operating in London. With his vision of bringing brewing back into the heart of London, Duncan pulled ex-brewer David Welsh out of retirement and back into his dungarees and wellies. To

From cask at Bree Louise. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is mild fruity. Slight malty. Sweet malty, slight breadish and caramelish. Mild fruity and citrusy hoppy. Bitter and bone dry finish.

Bottle from Mr Lawrence Wine Merchants, Brockley. Dark amber pour with a beige head. Disappointing nose. A little caramel and toffee in there but no much else. Caramel, nuts and butterscotch flavours. Sharp hoppy finish. Pleasant enough.

Cask (handpump) @ The Bree Louise, 69 Coburg Street, Euston, London, England NW1 2HH.Clear medium to dark amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, moderate hoppy, light citrus - orange, blackcurrant notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20091230]

Cask at the Duke of Wellington, London on 14th April 2010. Copper with partly lacing white head. Pungent fruity and hoppy. Full of flavour, lemony citric finish on a zingy mouthfeel.

Cask, handpump at The Boaters Inn, Kingston upon Thames, Thames Tipple Leg 9 Hampton to Kingston Upon Thames 13-03-10 Pours warm gold with some bubbles but no head to speak of. Nicely tangy with good bitterness. Lightly citric in the mouth, little bit of fizzy fruit, good stuff. A6 A3 F7 P4 Ov13 3.3

Cask at the Bree Louise, Euston. Copper with a thin cream coloured head that laced the glass well; rich malty aroma with some red fruits and butterscotch; full bodied with a fruity and spicy taste - reminds me of spiced plums; lightly hopped finish. Very drinkable. (January 2010 - 6/3/6/3/13=3.1)

(Cask at Harp, Covent Garden, London, 26 Nov 2009) Brownish amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of dried apricots, dusty hops and a touch of sulphur. Malty, nutty taste with dried fruit, apricots, nuts, a touch of butter and dusty hops in the finish. Below medium body, rather sweet. A decent bitter.

Cask handpull at The Rake, Borough. Yeasty and lovely biscuity malt. Good fruit, it’s got some hopo on end. Really pretty good bitter.
