Description
WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS

We started trial brewing on a home brew kit back in early 2009 when the country was in the depths of the recession, which is partly how the name Brightside arose. That and the fact that we also like The Killers!

These days we’re an established name in Manchester, with a reputation for quality consistency and service. Our beers can be found in many of the free of tie pubs and bars in the city, out towards Crewe and Chester in the South, through the Wirral, and up to Preston in the North (in fact, across much of the UK by way of swapped casks with partner breweries and wholesalers).

Cask at The Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. Pale amber with a thin white head that laces the glass; grainy aroma; oily texture and amedium body with a sweet grainy taste, and a grassy bitterness. Satisfying but unexciting.

Cask, handpump at the St Aldates Tavern, Oxford, Saturday 31st January 2015 Pours hazy warm gold with a slim white head. Reasonably hoppy with a hoppy nose also. Ok but expecting more, in fact I was a tad disappointed. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

Manchester Beer Festival 2015. Glowing clear brown with a head. Has a malty nose and taste with a small sweet twist that makes it above average for its style.

Manchester Beer Festival 2015. Black with a thin off-white creamy head. It’s light tasting with a light vanilla flavour, however this is the most dominant of all flavours that exist here.

Bottle from Carrington’s, Chorlton [241114]
Dark caramel brown, beige bubbly head that disispates
Aroma of roasted malts, soft burnt toast notes, dab of dark fruits
Taste of roasted malts, soft toasty malts, touch of dark fruits, soft yeasty, dab of dark toffee, fairly simple
Palate - Soft carb, medium light body, maybe a bot thin. Finish as main flavour, quite roasted, soft fairly sweet dark malts in background
Overall - Quite a nice porter, little thin and simple. Another one of these beers probably better on cask.

Bottle from MediaCityUK [13114]
Orange amber, slight haze, thin white head slight lacing
Nose of soft citrus zest, bitter orange, some fruity light caramel, dull lemon zest.
Taste of bitter zest, more bitter than fruit, soft caramel malts, fairly yeasty which knock out the hops a bit, some earthy grassy hop, not that fruity
Palate - Soft carb, medium body. Finish as bit dry, over bitter zest in the linger with some bitter yeast
Overall - Not the best example of an Amariilo hop beer, but OK. Bit over yeasty - not helped that there was a lot of sediment at the bottle of the bottle
