Cask at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours a murky golden amber with a sizable off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is malts and tropical fruits. In the mouth it’s bitter with a creamy texture, but with a little underlying sweetness. Floral hops give tropical fruit flavour with hints of peaches and spice coming later. Bitterness lasts into the dry finish. It’s reasonable.

You're never far away from a canal in Manchester city centre, and on a sunny day like today the industrial landscape can really come to the fore. Very hazy pale, but the dense appearance isn't matched in texture and it's fairly easy without being thin. Hoppy beer.

Cask at Fat Cat in Norwich, heading out west from the centre after a trip to a holy place to see the unusual double level cloisters at the cathedral. Dark reddish-brown with a small head. Sweetened stout and easy drinking. Some of its roasted notes linger. Not particularly high in its said chocolate though, just hints of.
