33cl Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Dark brown appearance, disappearing head. Smell of dark fruits, raisins, chocolate, malts, alcohol. Flavour is chocolate, brown sugar/caramel, raisins, a bit sourish. Rather sweet beer, but because it’s so soft it’s very enjoyable. Very rich in taste and smell, a very nice beer.

Bottle from Cracked Kettle, @ home. Golden orange appearance, big disappearing head. Aroma of yeast, sour apples, some malts. Dry and prickly palate, lots of carbonation, flavour is sour apples, sweet peach, yeast. Average.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy orange golden color with a small white head that diminshes quickly. The aroma is citrus and spicy hops. Decent lacing on the glass. A lot of yeast chunks floating in the beer. The taste is sweet and has a dry finish. A good tripel from Brasserie

Bottle, at the Belgian Belly, Manchester. Poured an orangey gold with a decent sized white head. Good lace. Aroma is sweetish with a touch of orange and peach. Flavour is malty and honey tinged, with hints of summer fruit and a pleasantly spicy herbiness which gives this a nice balance. Emminently drinkable and went very well with the Samurai Chicken roll !!

Being a fan of the brewery this was a "want list" beer but unfortunately the biggest miss of the trip. Pours a purplish-reddish-brown color with no clarity and a large head head that eventually becomes a thick surface covering lacing. Its downhill from there. Aroma is herbal (in a bad way), some cough medicine, some cardboard tasting spoiled fruits. Taste is light tart berries which would be nice but its a but weird with off flavors of cardboard and paper fruits. Weird and not good.

Bottle. Copper tinged gold color with a decent white head. Aromas of light fruit, citrus peel and mild spice. Medium body with prickly, but creamy, carbonation. Flavor is mild citrus sour with lighter stone fruits. Slightly peppery spice. Finishes pretty dry. Near astringent. Good ale.

One of my "to do beers" on my Belgium trip, just because I love the brewery and this is not available stateside. Pours a thick muted golden color with a large foamy head that never fully fades (just keeps sticking around). Aroma is at first strong with doughy yeast, dominating. Then comes a burnt orange maltiness aspect, which works well at first but then becomes unappetizing. Taste is full of orange/tangerine esters and finishes with a mineral fruitiness. Seems to be a bit uneven, lots of strong flavors but a body meant for simple easy drinking beer. I can see why this one, compared to their other wonderful beer, is not imported to the States.

Bottle at Cambrinus in Brugge. Rich dark aroma that is near vinous. Amber color with a fine beige head. Medium body with smooth, creamy carbonation. Flavor is a cross between ripe peach and raisin. Nice bitterness to balance. Alcohol is wholly hidden. Just excellent.
