Batch #10. Purchased at West Lakeview Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a very cool early fall night watching playoff hunt baseball. Appearance is a thick pitch black with a very rich tan head that laces to the glass. Aroma is a complex mixture of grassy hops, dark chocolate, nuts, lactose, rich coffee, but the hops really stand out moreso than any \"black IPA’s\" or hoppy imperial stouts I’ve had before. Taste is pretty phenomenal, it gives both punches that are found in a rich stout and a bitter hoppy IPA. The hops come out a bit more piney in the flavor and go down pretty bitter, with that rich chocolate/coffee flavor, I’m not sure of any other beer I’ve had that packs both sides of the punch equally hard. Great stuff, best brew I’ve had from this brewery hands down.

Bottle from a trade with Pawola22. Batch #29. Pours dark brown with thin tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, and lactose. Similar flavors with a big dose of heat from the chilis. Wow, wasn’t expecting the heat; hadn’t read any review prior to trying this. Medium to full body with soft carbonation. Thanks Brian.

Bottle. Pours muddy purple with off white head. Nose/taste of Greek yogurt, blueberries, wheat malt and light tartness. Some diacetyl, but it doesn’t detract from the beer. I rather enjoyed this despite its perceived "flaws." Reminds me almost exactly of a Blueberry yogurt dumped into a moderately sour Berliner weisse. Medium body. Moderate tartness.

Bottle from a trade with Pawola22. Batch #11. Pours dark brown color with tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and moderate smoked meat. Smoked and roasted malt flavor with some milk chocolate. Slightly ashy. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. A nice smoked beer that’s not as in your face smoked malt as the Schlenkerla beers.

Bottle courtesy of GatorGuy92. Pours clear gold with a white head of foam. The aroma is wonderful dank spicy hops with just hints of maltiness around the edges. The taste is full yummy fresh Columbus hop like goodness where a firm level of rich hop flavor is matched nicely by the level of hop bitterness. This is dead on yum! Wow!
