500ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo - cheers Graham!]. Cloudy, dark brown colour with ruby shimmer and average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white to beige head. Chocolately, dark malty aroma, hints of cocoa, chocolate, earthy, yeasty whiffs of dark berries. Taste is slightly dry, roasty, chocolately, dark malty, very subtle sweetness, hints of dry cocoa, dark chocolate, earthy, leafy hoppy overtones, diluted hints of insipid, instant coffee, very subtle, yeasty fruity hints of dark berries. Creamy texture, smooth, soft and silky, simultaneously slightly dry palate, fine and soft, creamy carbonation. Well crafted, rather dry, a bit thin - not bad.

Hand pulled cask pint at The Market Pub, Chesterfield on 27th May 2021. Clean and clear golden body, lasting white head. Slight citrus leanings in the nose and taste, refreshing and pleasant. The best beer I had all day (and I had plenty!).

Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, blackcurrant and dark plumy fruits, light coffee and a touch of soot. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness and body. A little thin but ok. Soft carbonation. Nice sweet and roasty finish. Easy drinking lower abv porter. Liked it.

21/1/2021. Bottle bought direct from the Brewery. Pours clear tawny brown with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, fruity, slightly nutty. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Nice bittersweet finish. Body as you'd expect from a 3.7% bitter. Keeps a bit of carbonation throughout. A perfectly drinkable traditional session bitter.

500ml bottle conditioned: BB Mar 2021. Poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 4th Sep 2020. I allowed the sediment to leave the bottle, so my dark brown body had a few floating articles within, the head was an impressive foaming affair in a tanned colour. Slightly harsh body feel, a bit too highly carbonated from the bottle conditioning. Hedgerow fruits in the nose and taste, red and black berry like, prunes and dates too. Liked it.
