10 oz draft at Pegasus City in downtown Dallas, Texas. The pour is an opaque black brown with a small khaki head that leaves behind thick lace. The aroma is Belgian spice, raisin and some medicinal herbal. The taste is medicinal, sweet honey, fruit and a lot of booze. Real cough medicine vibe. The palate is medium to heavier bodied with a slick mouthfeel, oily, and an aftertaste of cherry and booze. This was a miss for me.

Nonic pint draft at Pegasus City (Downtown) in Dallas, Texas. The pour is a hazed golden orange with a small foamy white head. The aroma is grass, wheat, soft lemon, citrus and a bit of clove banana. The taste picks up more of the yeast notes, clove and banana, than the floral grass and wheat to the pleasant finish. The palate is medium bodied with unfiltered mouth feel and the clean soft yeast and wheat finish. Above average American Hefe.

12 oz. can from Total Wine - San Antonio, TX. Pours a clear pale gold color with a large white head and great retention. A few spots of lacing. Lightly souring malts aroma. Unfortunately the taste follows the nose: Souring pale malts and light yeast flavors. Bad can perhaps? No canning date visible. Light body. Medium carbonation. Low bitterness. Not a pleasant experience.

On tap at the only place not slammed with tourists after 10pm. Nitro only recipe is what I am told. Half pour. Dark brown on black, cascading nitro. Smokey, minerally nose. Milky, light char, earthy brown bread, thin & smooth nitro. Only decent beer of the night besides the champagne barleywine.

On tap at the downtown location. The only place really open past 10pm on a weekday. Clear, dark amber, lightly frothy. Orange honey, white pepper, scalded malt nose. Herbal bittersweet toffee & a twinge of citrus on the tail. Okay-ish. Expected more bite.

Haven't been back in a year. Really just came back for the champagne barleywine. Half pint. Clear, dark amber, extra frothy. Sticky honey with a flabby faint citrus. Sweet & sticky caramel. Mellow earthy bitterness, a touch of glue. Too one-sided.

I got a 12 oz can of Nine Volt from a Total Wine in Dallas in the recent past. Tripels are fine in my estimation, I like it when American brewers take a stab at them. My New Belgium globe glass is in position for the delivery, I see a representative, yellow-gold liquid complete with a nice cover of snow white, finely bubbled foam. Very much a tripel nose with peaches, straw and grain. The drink is nice without being stupendous. Apricots, white bread, yeast, malt, all with an appropriate sweetness setting off the brew. Dry, I only wish the sensation had more more density. A good tripel from Texas, in any case.

I picked up this 12 oz can of Beaming Blonde two weeks ago at a Dallas Total Wine. My first beer from the brewery, I think the label is classy. A Belgian-Style Blonde it says on the can. Let us see if we can tell what they mean by that. I lift the tab and tilt inside of my Great Heights tulip glass. The appearance is a semi-transparent straw yellow body completed by a steady top of wholly white foam. The scent is, well, straw, grain and perhaps touches of citrus and yellow fruit. And the drink is mostly similar. Grain with a small touch of apricots and a bit of caramel sweetness. As it is with blondes in general, this is a decent, inoffensive beer.

On tap @Pegasus. I think these are Washington apples. Round pint glass. Golden & slightly jellied with lingering lace. Sulfur & browned apple nose. Bittersweet, subtle macerated sweetness. Minerally, leafy bitterness, white wine, with a somewhat oxidized & boozy finish. Couldn't finish it. Okay for a first pass.
